I really wanted to like Nonno's more, but there are some things they have to work on. Firstly, the greeting. We arrived for our reservation a few minutes early. They were very busy, with several staff quickly moving around, some serving food and some going to tables. That would've been fine if someone would've just made eye contact and said hello. I don't think that is a big deal, but the manner in which we were seated made things even worse. I said we were hoping to sit outside since it was a nice night, and as I indicated on the reservation, this was a special birthday occasion. The hostess/server simply said: "Well, you're lucky because we seat no reservations outside. You get to sit inside where it is nicer." I asked why it was "nicer" and she said, because we have air conditioning. The weather was a beautiful 75 degrees! It felt like she was trying to gloss over the reservation request to sit outside. I decided to ignore the seating problem and we were brought around a wooden panel shielding the front entrance from the main dining room. Although the table was fine, the dining room was one of the darkest I've ever eaten in! I would say the ambiance was of a typical American Italian restaurant with dark wood tables and decor, and Italian wine bottles as well as pictures of Italy on the amber walls, which was fine. Our server came over promptly and introduced herself. Jessica was a joy- great attitude, friendly, helpful with menu questions, and very efficient! My wife ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese and I got the Ravioli di Formaggio, to which I added the sausage. Strangely, when I asked if it was Italian sausage and if it was made in-house, Jessica had to go to the kitchen to ask. As she had just started a week ago, I could tell she was eager to get the right information, so she did the right thing. She confirmed it was Italian sausage, but not made fresh. The dishes took almost 30 minutes to arrive. They looked good, so we dug in. Sadly, they were of average quality. The sauce did not taste fresh nor home-made, and both the pappardelle and ravioli were over-cooked. I counted 6 small pieces of cut sausage that were clearly not anything special. The bottle of wine we ordered, a Clemente VII Classico Riserva, was one of the more expensive on the menu at $60. But because it was Thursday, they had a half-off wine bottle special. This bottle retails for $16-$20 according to the Vivino app- a ridiculous 300-400% markup!! I've never been to a Restaurant that marked wine up this much. The final bill was $83, completely overpriced for a meal of ingredients that were not all fresh, nor even of the size of most Italian restaurants. I've eaten at dozens of family-style to high-end big-city Italian establishments, and everything in between, throughout the world. This was not the worst, but the value for money and overpriced wine list are inexcusable. I hope my review gives the owner and management some things to work on. I believe customers will appreciate some improvements and the staff will continue to provide good...
Read moreI want to give more than 5 stars. My hubby made a reservation here and as soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly and had zero wait time to go to a lovely spot for 2. This was a Saturday night so it got filled up pretty quickly; however, our food was delivered beautifully and with perfect timing. The bread they give with the oil and vinegar feels so authentic Italian. The atmosphere is calming and beautiful for a romantic birthday dinner. My server was so friendly and sweet I can’t remember his name, but he had great eye brows. They visit you just the right amount of times with beverage refills and check ins. Where you still feel like your on a date and well taken care of :)
THE FOOD by far the best restaurant we’ve ever been to, like ever and I’m serious. I have a pretty sensitive tummy and I ate until I was full (still had left overs!), but no upsets at all! I can’t even do that at home! My husband and I both order off of the specials and everything was made so fresh and flavor was so wonderfully introduced in every bite. It seemed the more I chewed each bite the more I fell in love. My husbands fish was perfectly cooked. I don’t know how they got that so right because I hate fish and I almost stole my man’s plate! I had left overs as mentioned and they brought it back to the kitchen and packed it all up for me.
They wait on you hand and foot here and truly care about costumer satisfaction. They made me feel like I was their most valued costumer, I’m sure they do to everyone else too lol. Happy to say that the price is worth every moment. It’s luxury without spending hundreds on a date for two, I think our bill was 60 dollars (with two large entrees and a split desert) and honestly it was so good I would’ve paid 100. We had the ice cream dessert that I can’t even describe to you, but it was our servers favorite and he was so right about how delicious our entrees would be we had to choose his favorite desert. RIGHT CHOICE.
Everyone there was so genuine and kind. I was hesitant to post this review, because I don’t want it to get too famous and get reserved out lol but they honestly deserve it. You can tell they put so much thought and energy into making this restaurant perfect...
Read moreI stumbled upon Nanno's Ristorante while searching for an Italian restaurant with good ratings. I went in without a reservation, and I must applaud the host for finding a table for my mother and me away from the main entrance and the high-traffic areas. The restaurant interior is extremely dark, so like other patrons, I had to use the light on my phone to read the menu. However, it is nicely decorated, and I captured plenty of footage for creative inspiration.
We followed our waiter’s recommendation and ordered seafood pasta and a pizza spread with homemade pesto sauce and chicken. I also ordered the house Italian wine, which was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, the pizza crust was badly burned, but the waiter offered to make a new one so we could take it home. We hadn’t even mentioned it, so it was a pleasant surprise. The replacement pizza had a perfectly even crust, allowing us to savor the flavorful pesto sauce over the tenderly marinated chicken.
However, we were slightly disappointed by the seafood pasta. The sauce was so strong that it overpowered the flavor of the seafood meat, such as the shrimp and squid. Additionally, the black pasta was half steamy hot while the other side was warm, almost cold. We stirred it to make it work and didn’t mention it to the waiter since we were very hungry.
To complete our meal, we ordered the homemade gelato, which turned out to be sweeter than we preferred. The waiter was eager to ensure we had a good experience, constantly checking in to see if everything was okay. However, the restaurant seemed very busy, with waiters and waitresses rushing around, creating a stressful environment when I wanted to sit down and enjoy a stress-free meal.
I highly recommend Nanno's to anyone craving a delicious, homemade-style Italian meal with great service. I will most likely return when they...
