Chicharo's — Restaurant in Muscatine

This food is delicious. Reasonably priced. But customer service is horrendous. I’m a general manager and before was a supervisor for years. I went to pay and her system stopped but it charged my card. I get a notification for all of my transactions. So I told her the system stopped but I saw on my phone that it went through. She is insisted it didn’t and while trying to show her, she literally grabbed my car out of my hand and said here I’ll show you and then I was charged again! I pulled up my transactions and SHOWED her that it was charged twice and her response was “see it’s pending”- most of my charges made 1 minute ago stay “pending” for awhile. She had no right to charge my card again, touch what is essentially my money, and then blame me and say I’m in the wrong when I am literally showing her. She then pulled up her transaction, showed me a SINGLE transaction and said “see it only shows once” . I know the customer is not always right and customer service can be a pain in the a**, but this was absolutely not the right way to handle it and I’m disgusted. I didn’t even want to eat my food anymore and honestly ruined my afternoon. Sad because I only discovered this place yesterday and was so so excited to show my fiancé a good burrito place in town, begged him to come with me and that he’ll like it, and then...

Very well seasoned. Large portions​. Great price. I am​ not a meat eater, so the friendly waitress offered us a veggie burrito off the menu. I was pleasantly surprised with it. Usually, restaurants that advertise only meat options generally rely solely on​ meat and cheese to flavor their food. Which ultimately results in flavorless slop left over for us veggie foodies. Although it was tasty, I only gave them 4 stars because of the lack of options and their house salsa's contained chicken bullion. Who does that?

Update since leaving my original review; chicharo's took my advice to heart and made a vegetarian friendly salsa and even added an entire veggie section to their menu. The staff is always friendly and the food is prompt. I am happy to say, they are now my favorite restaurant in town. Thanks chicharo's. 5...

Food was only ok for the price we paid. The server was nice enough but once we got our food we were never checked on again, despite there only being two other tables. Granted, one of the tables was like a 10-top of college kids but still.. basic stuff like another napkin or two, or a refill on our horchata (which was excellent btw) would have been great.
