Located near Market Common, a great restaurant with ample indoor and outdoor door seating. Menu includes a number of appetizers (cooked and raw), tacos, sandwiches, salads, and entress. They also featured a special Tikki menu with additional food and beverages. Regular cocktail menu with a variety of cocktails, martinis, draft beer, and wine. We opted sit inside (it was hot and humid out), although most customers were outdoors. We were in a booth away from everyone which was nice since it was private but it did feel a bit too remote and detached from experiencing the full vibe of the restaurant (hence the 4 on atmosphere). The service was great. Our server was prompt, professional, knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly. Ordered a South Side Shine which was tasty but not so pretty to look at; have definitely had better presentation elsewhere. But it arrived nice and cold and was flavorful. Decided to our a few appetizers to share rather than getting a big meal. Great decision. Our apps ranged in price from $14-$23. Each was delicious and a good sized portion to share(there were 2 of us) and feel like you had plenty. Had read reviews which gave high praise to bang bang grouper bites. Did not disappoint. Bite sized pieces of white, flakey grouper with a tempura like fried coating. Not greasy with just the right amount of crunch, drizzled with bang bag sauce. YUM. Next we had the lobster sliders. SO GOOD. Decadent. Rich and full of flavor on a buttery roll. Not too much mayo and filler with a hefty blend of lobster. Love them. And off the Tikki menu we tried the crab Rangoon mozzarella sticks. They were huge. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we only had 2 of the 4. They were also good, not the full flavor of a crab Rangoon nor like a mozzarella sticks on its own. Worth trying, but not sure I’d...
Read moreSo I placed an order at 7:07pm last night to be picked up at 8:15pm (ordered two cajun creamy pasta, one with grilled chicken and the other with blackened shrimp). I get there at 8:15 and tell the guy at the bar my name and it’s an online order. He goes back to check and says it’ll be 10’ish or so mins. Which annoys me because I placed the order over an hour ago and there’s a total of 7 other people eating between outside dining, inside dining, and the bar so they haven’t been busy.
I’m waiting on my food and I think maybe the manager or owner asks me if someone had helped me (she’s about 20’ away from me) and I said, “yes ma’am, I’ve just been waiting on…” and she cuts me off to say “okay just making sure someone saw you” and walks off. Does ask what I’ve been waiting on or anything.
So about 8:33 another bartender said they’re boxing my food up now. I get my food at 8:37. There’s no way it takes 4 minutes to box up pasta. They box it up in cardboard boxes which makes no sense when you’re dealing with a liquid. When I got the food, I didn’t get an apology on it taking so long or anything, just a “have a good night”.
I have family in the restaurant business and I know it doesn’t take an hour and a half to make pasta, chicken, and shrimp. My food was never made until I told the guy I had an online order and my name.
I paid $72.62 to wait an additional 22 minutes on top of the hour and and 8 minutes that I allowed, bad customer service, lied to by the staff about it being close to ready, and subpar food. The boxes were so heavy and flimsy that the top box caused the bottom box to cave in. Definitely disappointed that nothing was done to make it right. Will not be going back and will recommend to everyone that things about going there to find...
Read moreSo seriously disappointed this visit. This had previously been a great happy hour spot for my husband and I with good food and good service. We took our moms to dinner there around 7:45 on a Friday night. The winter hours posted online and on the door said they closed at 10pm. We will not even walk into a restaurant an hour to close to ensure we won’t keep the employees too late. Coming in 2.15 hrs to close should have been fine. We ordered cocktails, oysters and some shared appetizers first and then entrees as these came out. The calamari was overdone and the crawfish spring rolls were burnt. In the time it took to get our entrees many of the patrons had left with exception of a couple of people at the bar. The staff had started cleaning up around us. It was a bit awkward but nothing to make a big deal about. Our entrees came out and were overall good. All of a sudden, a full 40 minutes prior to posted closing time, they turn all the lights on at full brightness. It has been a long time since I was young enough to be out until 2am but this was very reminiscent of 2am at the bar when they turn on the lights to signal that it’s time to leave. At this point we confirmed with staff that they closed at 10pm. We asked if they would mind dimming the lights, which they did very minimally. They said the lights were on a timer. To say we felt unwelcome and rushed to leave is an understatement. We won’t be back after such an uncomfortable experience. I just read a lot of recent reviews that seem to echo the same message—this place used to be great-with good food and dependable service but they have been going downhill. Not sure if they changed management or what but I’m sad to loose what once was a...
