I've always loved this place....go at least once every couple weeks, but they have lost a customer! Ordered a large order on Mother's Day, and they gave my husband the wrong order. Didn't know it had happened until he pulled up in our driveway ( we live 20 minutes from the restaurant). They called and realized their mistake, he offered to bring the food back (hadn't been touched) and they insisted that he just come get the right order and keep the wrong order. The girl assured me she would "take care" of the bill because now he's traveling another 40 minutes to and from....and not to mention we have 8 people sitting around waiting to eat. 3 days later, still no credit on my CC, so I call and ask about it....the girl that answered said, "Well, since you guys kept the other order my manager isn't going to refund any of the money." DO what??? I was instructed that he couldn't bring it back....so we didn't have choice. Terrible customer service and we won't be back....lots and lots of other mexican places in Nac! My next call will be...

I dont usually rate restuarants especailly during these trying times when help is non exsistent and places are short staffed.. My wife and I have been eating at this restuarant for 15yrs.. We have never had any real problems, always good food, good service no complaints.. BUT. tonight was a total.disaster.. Or Queso with ground beef came out with no beef in it, the waiter brought us a saucer with some cold ground beef..Then he comes out 15 minutes later and says they messed up our orders in the kitchen, so they were gonna re-do them.20 mins later he brings my wife a cold plate of food with a cheese enchilada that you could have used as a weapon it was so hard.. I never got my plate after watching my wife pick thru what few good morsels of luke warm food she could eat.. The waiter walks past our table and starts cleaning the table behind is.. HELLO.. I still havent gotten my plate.. Well.. needless to say when I confronted him he told is dont worry about paying for the drinks and chips and he was sorry We walked out for the...

Classic old school Tex-Mex with a twist. They have free margaritas.

I'm not a drinker, so let's get right to the food. First of all, they have good chips and homemade salsa. To me, it could use a bit more heat, but that's just me.

I also love their menu. The combinations are excellent. I had a combination with a beef fajita enchilada, tamale, crispy beef taco, and a puffed shell with queso. The enchilada was good, but the fajita meat lacked the grilled flavor. The tamale was well above average with a strong hint of cumin to it. The crispy beef taco was excellent and well loaded. And the queso shell was pretty standard, although the queso could've also used some more heat.

Like everywhere else, things are returning to more normal these days and El Ranchero is trying its best to adjust to people dining out again. The staff was hustling, but there was a wait to be seated in a restaurant that still had empty tables, but once seated, our server...

Visiting from out of town and found this place. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Service was standard, not excellent but certainly not bad. Serving sizes were good, guaranteed to fill you up. I had the stacked nachos. Sooooo good and way more than you can possibly eat at 1 time. I ate until i was full and still had to sort the leftovers into 2 to-go containers because it wouldnt fit in 1. My only complaint is the Chips and Salsa. The Chips were prolly the best ive had at a restaurant but the salsa was ughhhhh. First, they serve it hot, salsa is not suppose to be hot in my opinion. Second, it didnt taste good, tasted like tomato soup. I was very dissappointed!!! Thats the only thing that was bad though. The rest of the food was excellent, cheap and lots of it!!! Would definetly recommend you give them a try, you will not be disappointed i promise!!!

The waitress that took my order had a nasty attitude, but it's whatever since the next waitress that attended to me was nice. The chips and salsa that came to the table was very watery and the chips were over fried. The table was sticky and the booth wasn't wiped down. I tried to order the Mayra special which was 3 chicken enchiladas, but I received something with tamales instead. The reason I didn't tell them was because the wait time took a while. The meats very extremely salty. The tamales were extremely bland with no flavor. It seemed like it was microwaved and slathered with cheese. Last but not least, the older lady at the front desk freaking with payment is fairly rude. Flings receipts and credit cards and was more annoyed with customers for no reason. Definitely won't be coming back.

We are visiting the area to tour Stephen F Austin University. We decided to try this place. It was very busy and a little loud. The food was okay. It came out very quick, so I question the freshness of the food. My daughter has the enchilada verdes and said they were okay. She said she preferred my enchiladas. My husband had a chimichanga, which was small compared to other restaurants we've been to. He said it was good, but wished it was bigger. I had the fajitas, which came with garlic butter. The meat was tender, but lacked seasoning. The garlic butter definitely enhanced the flavor of the meat. The chips were nice and crispy and the salsa was good. We also enjoyed the queso with taco meat.
