Visiting from out of town and found this place. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Service was standard, not excellent but certainly not bad. Serving sizes were good, guaranteed to fill you up. I had the stacked nachos. Sooooo good and way more than you can possibly eat at 1 time. I ate until i was full and still had to sort the leftovers into 2 to-go containers because it wouldnt fit in 1. My only complaint is the Chips and Salsa. The Chips were prolly the best ive had at a restaurant but the salsa was ughhhhh. First, they serve it hot, salsa is not suppose to be hot in my opinion. Second, it didnt taste good, tasted like tomato soup. I was very dissappointed!!! Thats the only thing that was bad though. The rest of the food was excellent, cheap and lots of it!!! Would definetly recommend you give them a try, you will not be disappointed i promise!!!

The waitress that took my order had a nasty attitude, but it's whatever since the next waitress that attended to me was nice. The chips and salsa that came to the table was very watery and the chips were over fried. The table was sticky and the booth wasn't wiped down. I tried to order the Mayra special which was 3 chicken enchiladas, but I received something with tamales instead. The reason I didn't tell them was because the wait time took a while. The meats very extremely salty. The tamales were extremely bland with no flavor. It seemed like it was microwaved and slathered with cheese. Last but not least, the older lady at the front desk freaking with payment is fairly rude. Flings receipts and credit cards and was more annoyed with customers for no reason. Definitely won't be coming back.

We are visiting the area to tour Stephen F Austin University. We decided to try this place. It was very busy and a little loud. The food was okay. It came out very quick, so I question the freshness of the food. My daughter has the enchilada verdes and said they were okay. She said she preferred my enchiladas. My husband had a chimichanga, which was small compared to other restaurants we've been to. He said it was good, but wished it was bigger. I had the fajitas, which came with garlic butter. The meat was tender, but lacked seasoning. The garlic butter definitely enhanced the flavor of the meat. The chips were nice and crispy and the salsa was good. We also enjoyed the queso with taco meat.

We always eat at El Ranchero's when in Nacogdoches. Free Margaritas🍹 and great chips and salsa with every meal. Their salsa is unique in that it is served warm. It is mild and excellent enough to have won them many awards for the best salsa. For Margaritas, choose from Lime or Strawberry, both are good. I ordered beef fajitas which I found to be a bit tough (next time would opt for the chicken). In past visits, I have had the tacos which are good. My hubby ordered the enchilada mealsl which he enjoyed. We highly recommend El Ranchero's if you are looking for good local Mexican food.

This place is a hidden gem. It has it's own character and the staff were super friendly. We ordered Guacamole and the lady came from the kitchen and made it from scratch right in front of us!!! The food was freaking delicious. Prices were ridiculously cheap. I'm definitely going back to eat there.
