BAD FOOD AND ABSURDLY OVERPRICED! Fish & chips and wings, both safe options, or so i thought. However, both were mediocre if that. The wings were undercooked and soggy. I asked for them well done, that wasn’t possible I guess because the waitress told me the wings were ‘grilled’(?). 12$ for 6 wings is a bit much too. The fish and chips, where i was looking for a classic, easy meal on the Atlanic coast, were butchered. The fish’s quality itself was good, and it tasted like cod would. However, it was extremely greasy and cooked badly. The batter was a soft, flimsy mess—far from the crunch of a beer battered fish &chips that we all love. It was bland and unseasoned, which could’ve been aided by a quick shake of salt, had the salt shakers even worked! They were unattended too and clogged by the humidity of the surrounding air. The fries were soggy and again unseasoned. I wouldn’t have made a big fuss about this had it not been for the price. For 21$, you would expect a well-above average plate of fish and chips. I recieved the opposite. My dining compatriot purchased the grilled cod, which comes on top of mashed potatoes. After already dealing with troublesome staff and sub-par if not disgusting food, i recieved the check. For wings, fish &chips and grilled cod, this meal was 60$! After this, i had to excuse myself from the table to use the restroom to clean the throwup off my shirt and wipe my bleeding nostrils from the surprise of what had occured. The check was 60$ for 2 should-be cheap entrees as well as a placcid pile of undercooked wings. Upon return to the table, i had to restrain myself from causing a scene. Never visit this embarassment to the supposedly high quality dining...
Read moreIf I could give a -5 rating I would. Stopped to have drink on July 21. My husband has a fully trained service dog always by his side for PTSD. She was wearing her service vest and her photo ID stating “public access required.” The manager said we don’t allow dogs. I calmly explained about our service dog. The manager then said we only allow dogs for people with disabilities. I said “yes, understood. That’s why my husband has a service dog.” Really?? It’s 2021 and you still think all disabilities are clearly visible like some in a wheelchair or someone who is blind? How socially insensitive and clueless can you be? So I calmly smiled and offered the woman some much needed education. She just kept repeating herself that only dogs for those with disabilities could be allowed. It was obvious she was never going to get this simple concept. So incredibly sad that she refused to seat a Navy veteran who has put his life at risk time and time again to protect her precious freedom. I don’t know how she can sleep well at night. Please do not patron this establishment. They are rude, untrained, and ignorant about the laws that protect our military...
Read moreI was there Sunday of Labor Day weekend. It was busy but I was seated immediately. Kelly, the waitress, arrived immediately and I ordered. I was there with my 17 yr old son. My son ordered wings and a burger. I ordered fish and chips and lemonade. The food came quickly. For some reason, the fish that was perfectly fried, moist inside, crispy outside, was on a bun with lettuce, tomato and onion. In addition, the fish portion was pretty small for fish and chips but tasty. The atmosphere is great, being only a two minute walk from the Hy-Line Ferry, and being seated outside. Prices are fairly reasonable for Nantucket. I would eat there again. The only negatives are the small portion of fish and the tipping. The waitress did a great job and was attentive but she should be paid a fair wage and stop this tipping thing. I would rather pay 10-15 percent more and stop tipping so I know real price without breaking out the calculator before placing the order. My suggestion is bigger portion of fish in the fish and chips and pay the waitstaff. Stop this tipping game. And by the way, my son liked the...
