I forced my fiance to go to the backyard bbq because i always heard good things about this restaurant. My fiance and I got to the front of the restaurant where the hostess was and she did not acknowledge our presents at all she was busy talking to her friend. I was the one to initiate contact. We were seated by the hostess and shortly after, a male waiter took our order (He was very vulgar). My fiance ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and a beer and i ordered a pork rib with a side of potato salad and a glass of wine.
A female waiter brought our food and she literally to toss it on the table, I was so upset and what made it worst.; it was not what i had ordered and it did not even appear to be appetizing to be honest and the lobster mac and cheese look like something a 7 year old had made. While the female waiter went to change the meal, the male waiter came back and he was so rude. He was arguing with me and telling me that i ordered something else when i clearly said pork rib with a side of potato salad TWICE!.
The manager on duty literally saved the day because we honestly were gonna walk out. The manager came and apologized and he was so nice (he wears glasses). He kept coming to check on us, it was a little creepy but he made our experience a whole lot better.
Once i got the rib and the potato salad i realized how bland it appeared to be, but i was starving so i did not focus on that. The rib was so dry and there was no sauce on it. Thank god there was a bottle of bbq sauce on the table. The potato salad was the worst i have ever had in my life. The manager who kept checking on us noticed how unhappy we were. I told him that i did not like the potato salad at all and i wanted to just pay for the meal and leave. He suggested a sausage with pineapples and i refused but he kept asking for me to try it. So i did, and it was very delicious. He told us that we would not be paying for the potato salad and the sausage with pineapples in pine sauce was complimentary. Also, the lobster mac and cheese was not bad but it did have a little weird smell so my fiance hardly ate it. The Nantucket vineyard wine was good. Overall, i will not recommend this restaurant it was a big...
Read moreI had a second opportunity to eat at B-ACK Yard BBQ today, Christmas Eve 2023. I arrived just after noon and the place was empty. Yay.
First I have to say that I grew up in Kansas City where barbecue IS life. A few years ago, I ate at SIX different BBQ places from the Wednesday before Thanksgiving through the Saturday after. I believe that real BBQ or just grilling can only be done over charcoal or wood.
The very nice waiter came to our table to start our order right away. After ordering drinks, he returned to explain the three sauces on the table. He stated that the "sweet" sauce was like a Kansas City sauce with the usual hint of vinegar. The "yellow" sauce was like a Carolina type sauce made of a mustard base. The "hot" was supposed to be medium heat. The yellow was interesting and tasty. The 'Kansas City' style sauce did not taste like any sauce that I have ever had in or around Kansas City. It is probably best used on meat on the grill when nearly done. I might use it on chicken or burgers but never on ribs, brisket or burnt ends.
I ordered a glass of wine, DUCK wings and fries. My daughter ordered lobster Mac n Cheese and a Chardonnay. Service was quick and the food was good. The order of fries was huge but I got them all down.
On Nantucket, nothing is inexpensive. The two meals with a total of three glasses of wine was $114 before tip. Service was good and they came to check on us at least three times. Food was pretty good and I would eat there again. The atmosphere is nice and there is a bar. It is located at the bottom of Main Street on what is considered Straight Wharf, literally steps from the HyLine Ferry. Today was actually a re-do for B-ACK Yard because I had eaten there shortly after they opened and was not impressed. Now at least I can say that I would voluntarily eat there and enjoy...
Read moreArrived mid afternoon hoping for an early dinner prior to catching our ferry. A server seated my spouse and I outside at a good table. We waited about 10mins for a different server to tell us they'd be with us shortly, after about 15mins they returned and asked if we wanted drinks, we asked what she had and she said she'd be right back. About another 15mins later she put a drinks menu in front of us and disappeared again saying "I'll be back" when we tried to order food. Through our 50min total wait we noted that other parties of customers were getting service despite arriving later than us. We really knew things were bad after about the 40min mark when the friendly group of strangers sat on the table next to us took notice of how long we had waited and it became their hot topic/joke about how long we had been waiting for anything other than water. When 50mins had come we gathered our things, stood from the table to leave and the server arrived. To which I said to "forget it". Reading the other reviews it seems like this is a regular occurence that goes continually unresolved. The food looked Devine, wish we could...
