I took me a year and multiple bad experiences to write this review. I’m from Florida and I’m a part time here. My aunt loves this restaurant and begged me not to do a review. I loved this place too, we have been coming for years but unfortunately I don’t feel that way anymore. The first bad experience was Christmas Eve 2023. We made a reservation for 5pm we called back immediately and asked them to changed the reservation to 5:30 because we were coming all they way from bodega bay they said sure no problem. We got there and the host was so nasty and rude making excuse that we were late. We explained that we called and changed it, very rudely she claimed there was no way we did because she’s the only one who answer the phone. Another girl that was a server came up and said yes I took that call see and pointed to a piece of paper that she wrote it on but the rude girl scribbled it out. It’s like she was accusing my aunt of lying how embarrassing. We where pushed in the back to the bar with family in town that we where trying to impress with this restaurant major fail by the way. The servers apologized profusely and sent a complementary calamari. This was very unprofessional especially for REGULARS at a place in Napa valley where the bill is at least $300 and up. 2 weeks ago my uncle ordered Alfredo with prawns and it smelt so fishy me and my aunt told him don’t eat that he still ate it anyway and felt sick. But they love this place so much that he refuses to believe it was from that. Fast forward to this Sunday my Aunt wanted to go for her birthday. I wanted the polenta but the server gave her specials and I was interested in the risotto. I advised the server that I want the polenta and that I’m picky about risotto and asked if it is creamy she said yes very creamy so I went with the risotto. It comes and it’s super dry, had the texture of uncooked rice and I asked for the salmon to be cooked well done it was not and it was fishy. I told her she said oh we will make it more creamy and brings it back just as bad as before. We all work in hospitality, why this was not offered to be taken back or replaced is beyond me.I was very unsatisfied and still hungry from a $300 something dollar dinner. The next day my aunt wants polenta again but Togo . I thought to myself let me just stick to the damn polenta and get the bad taste out of my mouth about pasta prego. Well my polenta came out burned literally chared not slightly about a inch thick of burn on the top. This was the straw that broke the camels back, I don’t care how my family feels about this review! You all should be ashamed of handling us this way with the amount of money that’s been spent there from me and my family! I think someone new took this place over a couple years ago I’m not exactly sure of the story but they are doing a terrible job!

i don’t understand the good reviews but maybe it was a bad night? the best part was the bread and olive oil/vinegar dip - i could eat a big plate of this. the beet salad was underwhelming and mostly leafy greens instead of beets. the prosciutto wrapped prawns pasta came with 1/3 portion of steamed broccoli that did not belong in the dish but an afterthought. why so much steamed broccoli in my pasta plate?? i couldn’t even finish all that broccoli. the flavors of the pasta was also underwhelming - i can make a better version of this dish. the veal in white wine sauce tasted so strongly of white wine. again..1/3 of the dish was full of steamed veggies (incl. broccoli). i can’t believe we’re paying over $30+ for these dishes to have 1/3 of it be filled of steamed broccoli and veggies still full of water underneath? couldn’t they at least put more effort into the dishes by roasting or doing something more with the veggies vs steaming? i’ve been to many italian places and even fusion ones don’t put so much steamed veggies in my pasta. it’s weird and not really italian at all. i was sad to have wasted a meal in napa and so much money eating here for dinner. i don’t know how they would’ve made the dishes better besides just me just ordering something else but then i would seem like a b for doing that bc really, it’s not the server’s fault for the way the food was made.

I am genuinely very confused by the spectacular reviews on both Google and Yelp. We came in on a Sunday night and ordered calamari, linguine, and pasta Diablo. None of which met expectations. Food was very bland and there was an overwhelming amount of noodles-to-sauce ratio. My husband asked for balsamic vinegar to go with the bread service and olive oil. Both the olive oil and balsamic vinegar were poor quality. We were also made known that they were running low on garlic and had to charge if we asked for more for the olive oil (bruh….an Italian restaurant running out of garlic? Blasphemy!). Service was very quick and rushed. They didn’t anticipate a Sunday night being so busy. We did everything we could to amp up the flavors by requesting garlic, lemon, and marinara but it couldn’t be helped. The portions are certainly Italian but we’ve been to much better restaurants. If you’re reading this, visit Bistro Don Giovanni first and compare. It is night and day. The only highlight to our meal was our parmesan and black pepper grinder lady who was so sweet and laid them on thick on the food that desperately needed saving. On top of that, we find out that none of the noodles were made in-house from a previous review? Not worth your money.
