I've been here twice so far. We had the lamb/beef gyros the first time, with greek fries. The gyros were good! The fries inside of it were superfluous, but overall the gyro was tasty. It had an appropriate meat/pita/veggie/tzatziki ratio. I could have done without the fries inside of it though. The Greek fries were not very good. Sad, limp fries tossed with a heartburn inducing amount of raw scallions and garlic, and a pathetic amount of feta. Wont order those again.
Second time we had the beef/lamb gyro bowl and falafel. The gyro bowls were good, but had WAY too much rice and not nearly enough meat, tomato, cucumber ( I had 1 piece of cucumber in my bowl....) lettuce, feta etc... it was basically a big bowl of rice with a little bit of toppings. Not worth the price... The falafel had good flavor, but the chickpeas (doubt they were fava) didnt seem soaked enough. A little dry... a bit too crunchy and raw. Flavor was great, but they all had a conspicuously similar shape that looked as though they were mass produced.
It's a chain, clearly. And Small World is a much better choice,...
Read moreThe first time I was able to finally try this place was when they opened their location in Napa, CA. That was a minute ago. Ever since that first time, I've always had pleasant interactions w/ whomever is working in the front. Always so friendly when I come in and order. I haven't eaten inside yet, but it's kept pretty darn clean. The actual place is next door to a popular liquor store in Napa, centrally located, across the street from Walmart. Always parking, usually in the front.
I've had their pitas (beef/lamb & chicken, plates (beef/lamb & chicken), gyros (chicken) and Nick Fries (chicken). They had baklava back in the days, I didn't care for, but I didn't see it on their current menu. Nick Fries - fries are always crispy and piled high w/ all the fixings. Everything is tasty and consistent as far as the amount...
Read moreThis review is specific to the "Nick the Greek" location in Napa. I have gotten pick up from Nick the Greek twice. The first time we thoroughly enjoyed our food, we got a beef/lamb gyro and a falafel salad. The food was well seasoned and the portions plentiful.
With our first good experience in mind we decided to order again, this time getting two of the beef/lamb gyro. This time the food was awful, it was cold despite picking it within minutes of it being ready. The meat was burned, the fries were soggy, the gyro had tons of onions but barely any of the added veggies that we paid extra for. The gyro was not filled, leaving both of us hungry - not a great feeling after spending 30$ on dinner.
I am very disappointed in the Nick the Greek location in Napa - I do not think we will be...
