Brown's Chicken — Restaurant in Naperville

If only I could give 0 stars. I ordered my food from 2 different women whose facial expression not only gave me the understanding that they couldn't care less that I am there, but seemed bothered by me being there. My sprite tasted like root beer so I asked for lemonade instead. It also tasted like root beer. The mashed potatoes are very dry instant potatoes with just a little of gravy on it...the gravy doesn't taste like gravy. I ate one spoonful and gave it to my daughter. She took a bite, spit it out and we just won't eat it. My biscuit has no flavor. It tastes like the end of a white loaf of bread that has been sitting in the plastic bag for so long that it is now soggy. My orange chicken is nothing more than boneless chicken tossed in orange sauce. But it wasn't tossed it was drizzled over the top 1/3 of it, and it tastes more like general tso. My Wisconsin mac seems to be just noodles microwaved with shredded cheese that has now separated into oil. My daughters hot dog was ok. I took a bite of that, but just seems to be more expensive than Portillo's, with a taste that reminds me of when Kmart use to sell cooked hotdogs. $21 and I regret every item I ordered. Not sure what makes the $21 because they only give out a receipt with your total...not itemized. Pretty sure I was overcharged, but they couldn't be bothered to give me a real receipt. I will never come...

I have never actually had Brown’s chicken until last night. It came highly recommended to me by a friend, so I figured I would try it and pick some up on my way to work. I ordered a chicken bowl, which was supposed to have mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and fried chicken pieces. They forgot the gravy, so the entire thing was very bland/dry. The pieces of chicken in it were absolutely disgusting! Hard/chewy… I didn’t even eat the meat. I just picked at the potatoes. I also ordered a biscuit and an order of 4 corn fritters. The corn fritters were awful! They tasted like they had sat out for days. SO dry and had no flavor or any corn in it at all. I threw them away. The best thing about the whole meal was the biscuit. It was super buttery and delicious. I guess it’s my fault for not just ordering a meal with bone in chicken and sides for my first experience there. But, needless to say, I don’t have any intentions...

Chicken was good. Slaw was awful. Mac & Cheese is Mac with cheap cheddar 'dip' ladeled atop - awful.

Spent a dollar short of a ten spot and I'd have to pay $30 to get filled here (portions are less than impressive)... I guess if the food was good I might want more...

Now to go get a couple of McD's.

Not coming back.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the older guy working the register was dressed quite appropriately for the impression of the shop... Pants and belt WELL past their prime... The pants of questionable condition of how clean they could possibly be. (Envision a painter with his 10 year old overalls on... Yeah... That much 'slop' down the pants... No exaggeration.)
