We had the worst experience at Morton’s. Probably the worst in our entire lives. Absolute horrible. We were here to celebrate Valentine’s Day and was also our first time at a Morton’s. Our waitress Natalie was absolutely the worst. She didn’t tend to our table, got our orders wrong, had other waiters/ waitresses helping, and drinks were late. My soda was flat and it took 30 minutes for another waitress to give me another one. She had the nerve to have someone bring the soda to me. I ordered a ribeye and received a bone in ribeye which was more expensive. When I brought the issue up to her, she said it’s a little more expensive and immediately asked if I wanted to talk to the manager. She should of just told the manager herself without asking me. Lastly, she had the audacity to ask us to join their club membership for future discounts at their restaurant and their partners. Out of all the partners in the membership club, she only mentioned the cheaper restaurants the club insinuating we could only afford to go to less expensive restaurants. She was rude, clearly didn’t seem to care, and/or just didn’t belong there.
We called and spoke to the manager once we got home and explained our visit. He was kind enough to apologize and explained Natalie is newer but should not behave this way. He offered us two choices; come back so they could wine & dine us or they refund the cost of our dinner. We opted for the refund. The manager said it will take about several weeks for the refund to clear. It’s been almost 2 months and nothing.
We wished had gone next door to Cooper’s Hawk where the service is superb and food is excellent. This experience has tainted us forever at any Morton’s. Morton’s staff and management is a joke for up scale restaurant. There are many restaurants to choose from. We should have listed to friends telling us Morton’s food being just ok. Just wanted a good experience and we ended up wasting our hard earned money. Morton’s will never receive us as customers again. Will spread the word of our experience to friends and loved ones. Morton’s should be ashamed of...
Read moreMy sister and I live quite far from each other so we decided this would be a good halfway point for something really good to eat and drink. I have been to the Morton's downtown and in Rosemont; both fabulous, so I was really looking forward to our meal. We walked in and sat in the bar area. The waiter and bartender were very cordial. The host gave us the stink eye until almost the end of our night when one of his regulars expressed interest in us; then he was very nice. We asked for a sample of a wine, liked it and they brought two glasses right away. Sis ordered salad and onion rings for dinner; I asked for 3 shrimp at $4.95/pc and a cheeseburger rare, bloody. After that, things started going downhill. I got my shrimp, (I asked before I ordered them if they were 6-10 count and the waiter confirmed they were), they were 26-30 count and were not cooked well because I couldn't easily remove the meat from the tail. I would not doubt that they came from Costco; that's exactly how they tasted. Sis got her salad and was almost done with it when the onion rings came to her with the cheeseburger for me. The cheeseburger was ok but it was very WELL done, as in not a hint of pink; it was warm, not hot. The shoestring potatoes that came with it were slightly less warm than the burger. Really? We each had 2 glasses of decent wine, a cheeseburger, onion rings, a salad and 3 shrimp. The bill was just over $100! Really? We did not have the time to stay and discuss this with anyone but on our way out the host came over to talk to his regular and while we were passing them the host asked how everything was. I have never and will never be unkind in front of another customer inside the restaurant so I said everything was fine and we left. BTW, I left a 25% tip because the service was very good. I dine out 2-3 times per week at nice places and this experience came nowhere close to meeting my expectations. We could have had the same meal at McCormick and Schmick for half the price for the same quality. Morton's needs to get on top of...
Read moreOur love of Morton's began in 1994, dining at the 1050 N. State Street location in Chicago. We visited this location often including holding our 10-20 employee Christmas gatherings there every year for about 10 years; never a disappointment.
Fast forward 17 or so years later, having been provided a "thank you" gift card (such a considerate from our kids ) to Morton's, decided to chance the Naperville location since we reside near by.
The ambiance was beautiful, Kristen, our waiter could not have been nicer or more thorough and our water was kept filled, complete with ice, throughout our entire dinner.
The salads we began with, "Lettuce Wedge" and the "Seasonal Burrata salad" were absolutely delicious, fresh and husband said it was the best "wedge" he ever consumed.
Our steaks arrived (his the no-bone ribeye and mine the 12oz. filet), both requested "medium" (normally I have my steak cooked medium rare but something told me to chance medium; glad I did). He requested the blue cheese butter and I their very fabulous Bearnaise.
Both of our steaks were aggressively charred (have NEVER had to designate with a request the "depth of char" prior to this visit so didn't know we should've). The ends of both steaks were medium and hot and two more slices into each displayed our normal medium-rare requests. The Smoked Gouda-Bacon au gratin potatoes were delicious.
Desserts of Molton hot chocolate cake and Mortons sundae did not disappoint; however, it appears that real whipped cream for the Sundae now tastes like Cool Whip.
We will return to this establishment. Thought I'd share our experience so others will know, if nothing else, because the steak is king, that a suggestion to request various degrees of char and potential deviation of how you normally enjoy your steak could, can make...
