Well we were here on our 7 year wedding anniversary getaway at our second home I. Fort Myers, and being in the seafood industry for years as a distributor and owner of a seafood restaurant in Key West naturally my wife wanted to find fresh seafood that the locals go get, we were told about Swan River at another local spot we ate at lunch that they would have the best grouper, halibut, genuine reds, ect but it would come at a price which we have no problem for the fresh of the fresh we had a 745 reservation, we got in there and it was already dying out, it seemed like we were being rushed from the start since there was only two tables besides us, we were excited bc the fish in the market were the real deal so we can overlook the being rushed it was late in Old Maid Naples on a Monday and we have no problem eating and running, we stared with the crab cakes apps, each one of the three tasted different the 1st fishy, 2nd bland, 3rd delicious, house salad fine is what it is, chicknpeas were tasty, I gor the 45 fresh grouper with beets and sweet potatoes and a corn on the cob, the wife the halibut special...hers was dry, rice hard, asparagus tatsty...mine was overcooked the middle was perfect though so 2/3 of a 45 dish was tasty, beets blah...corn kn the cob the best thing we had....so moral of the story the food looked amazing in the window they had the mist fresh fish we found, the problem was who ever was cooking it, wish we would of took it home and cooked it ourself then we would of gave 6 stars but they get 3 and that's me being nice bc the fish pre cooked was truly a sight for sore eyes, the place itself was 5 out of 5 beautiful, service was blah servers dropping plates, talking about wanting to go home very loudly, and pushing us out the door, we even felt bad and asked for the check to close it out so the waitress could check out and even the system wad not working.. lolo so please spend every dollar on the market the fish is the best on the west coat just don't eat there take it home you can cook it better, only upset bc today was a very special day and my wife looked forward all day to go eat the fresh halibut in halibut season and was so dissapointet, and to see her dissapointed on our wedding anniversary makes me wish I listend to the locals and went to the hole in the wall skip one or Dixie for some grouper cheeks.. Just...
Read moreI recently visited Swan River Seafood Restaurant to celebrate an employee's birthday, accompanied by another friend. We are Black, and from the moment we arrived, we felt uncomfortable due to the stares from other patrons.
It had just stopped raining, and I asked if we could be seated outside. The employee who was seating us directed us to a booth that had a bench on one side and two small chairs on the other side, which didn't look appealing and seemed more suitable for a couple with two children. I requested a different booth, but the employee said that the booth I wanted had water pouring through the ceiling. Despite this, I pointed out another booth and walked toward it.
Instead of seating us, the employee went inside and returned a few moments later to tell us it was okay to sit where I wanted. This made me feel like she needed to get permission before seating us at a better booth. Suspicious, I checked the supposedly wet booth and found it completely dry.
Feeling discriminated against, we decided to leave and went to M Waterfront Grill, where we had a pleasant and welcoming experience. I will never return to Swan River Seafood Restaurant, as it is clear they do not want people...
Read moreMade reservations for a party of 11 on a Friday night, we were told the only time slot available was 7:30pm. They called us 45 minutes beforehand to see if we could come in any sooner but at that point plans were already made. When arriving, the restaurant wasn’t busy and we were sat right away. Our waiter came off rude when it came to ordering. My mom asked him what kind of sides did they have and he said “there’s like ten different kinds, you can read them in the menu”. When our food came out I was very disappointed, the prices are very high for the quality and quantity. I ordered the (lightly fried) calamari meal, I wouldn’t consider it lightly fried… I asked the waiter for a side of marinara, on return he brought me a bowl of pretty much stewed tomato’s, it tasted fabulous but definitely should of been blended to be considered marinara sauce. They also charged me $4 just for that. Before leaving we mentioned that it was our friends birthday, the waiter brought out a sliver of cheesecake and when we started singing happy birthday the waiter just walked away. I probably wouldn’t return to this restaurant, there are...
