Very little to like here. After tent camping in the Big Cypress preserve for several days, my wife and I were craving a decent hot meal in general, and Mexican cuisine in particular. So we did a Google search for Mexican restaurants in the Naples area and Mr. Tequila popped up at the top of the list. It was the nearest to us and had received an impressive 4.4 of 5 rating so, in spite of the unlikely name, we decided to give it a shot. The decor was pretty bad, but not the worst I have seen and the place seemed clean and well-cared for and the menu had a decent variety of choices so we sat down in anticipation of a good meal. The margaritas we were brought tasted like they were made with a mix but were refreshing and had an adequate amount of tequila, but things only went downhill from there. The service was okay and the food arrived quickly enough but it was pretty horrible. The sauces tasted like they were just dumped out of a can and the cheese was just weird and tasteless. The masa on my tamale was dense and dry and had some sort of almost chemical flavor. The boiled chicken breast in my burrito was bland and tough and the only ingredient beside the awful sauce and cheese. The salsa we were brought for the chips was decent enough even though canned tomatos were used in its preparation. However, there was a strip of some kind of paper about an inch long by 1/2 inch wide in mine and my wife found a string of something unidentifiable in hers. Major turn-off. We left with a mild buzz but with an unsatisfied craving for good food and cannot recomend this restaurant to anyone. I can only guess that the reviews that boosted this place to 4.4 stars were written by the...
Read moreWhat I saw happen last Friday at this restaurant was disgusting and a lack of professionalism and ethics. I was dinning in with my husband as a brawl erupted just a few feet away from our table....mind you this is inside the restaurant and it was packed with families enjoying their weekend. The fight was between a woman and a man, and as I was informed after the storm had passed, these 2 individuals the woman and the men involved did not previously know each other. The fight erupted because the man told the women and her group of friends to be quite because they were being too loud. Now mind you this happened around 7ish at night on a Friday night. What I really consider unbelievable and frightening is that while the man was yelling at the woman and being nasty not a single staff member came to help with the situation. When the altercation became physical I was very afraid because I am expecting my first child and my husband obviously first and foremost cared to protect me, but I was able to see that the staff from the restaurant did nothing to stop or control the situation and the manager on duty was nowhere to be be found. 911 was contacted but by one of the consumers that witnessed everything not by the staff. I am never going back to this place knowing that their staff is not properly trained to deal with nasty customers and dangerous situations. I have been in retail and dealt with customers my whole life, I was in disbelief to see how the staff allowed this situation to escalate and put us all in danger. I can only hope that the lady involved is doing well as she took a beating from this ruthless man. I hope she and her friends never have to experience something...
Read moreMy review is based on my experience of today which is the first time I chose dine in instead of the regular take out which by the way I never had any complains about. Today I sat at the bar and counted 3 parties besides my own sat around it, two of them were in the middle of their entrees and the other one seemed to be waiting for their food. My drink order was taken almost immediately after my arrival but to a point to almost forgetting what was I there for, I had to wait for a long time and finally ask one of the bussers to take my food order, food came ok, flavor the same I know and I go back for so no complains but couldn’t help but wonder about the evident absence of the bartender and the slow service seem as I mentioned he didn’t have many customers to take care at that moment. The minute I had to interact with the guy I used it (or at least tried) to enquire about recommendations for a tequila only to end up deciding myself, baffled by the ignorance of the person I expected to know a thing or two about the subject not only because of the person’s nationality (all the interaction occurred in Spanish) but because of his profession as a bar tender. It’s terrible to have to wait more than you should at any place but it’s torture to wait at a place you want to go as soon as possible for anybody to take care of your bill so you can do so. Food still good...
