50 minutes waiting for our order, a diabetic guest waiting to take their meds for nearly an hour!!! Totally unacceptable. I am a Colombian so, if I go out for a meal at a traditional Colombian restaurant, I expect the food to not only reflect such tradition but also to be better in quality and preparation than the one I can prepare at home myself. The positive: Two stars for cleanliness and decoration of the place, which is small but well kept, tables are distanced and there’s disinfecting gel at the entrance. The negative: 1. Waiting time!! 2. All the food was super-salty: the stake, the chicken, the rice. 3. The appetizer was microwaved to near incineration (empanadas, absolutely hardened outside, still bubbling inside from being vaporized). A lot of the food is microwaved from frozen, not fresh like other people claim on their reviews. 4. The bandeja paisa, the signature dish of the place (and of Colombia), was very disappointing; the arepa was store-bought and then fried to warm it up. Fried arepa is not part of the paisa tradition, it certainly does not belong in a bandeja paisa (apart from being unhealthy). When I pointed this out, the waitress said “well, that’s how we prepare it”. Bottom line, I do...
Read moreI was referred to this place by a coworker whose family owns it. Never had Columbian food before and willing to support mom and pop places, I ordered two dishes for delivery. It took an hour and a half, but they told me that it would take about 45 minutes to cook. This is what you want in a restaurant - made fresh when you order instead of sitting under a heat lamp. The two dishes ordered are: Arepa con pollo and Arroz con pollo. The Arepa was excellent with the Casa Blanca guacamole on top. If you don't like cilantro, don't order it, but I do and loved it. The corn cake didn't have flavor by itself, but went with the rest of it. The Arroz is HEAVY because of the amount of food. The yellow rice isn't just mixed with shredded chicken, but infused. If you need to feed a family of four or carbo load for an ultra marathon, this is the dish for you. I'd give them 5 stars but as I didn't go to the restaurant, I can't honestly say they deserve an overall 5. However, I'm confident that their attention to detail with their food is evident in...
Read moreIf you have any measure of patience, Casa Blanca in Nashua is a very good place to indulge in Colombian cuisine. Forty-eight minutes passed before my meal arrived. To buffer the wait, I’m sure, my server brought to me a dish of tostones and salsa to pass the time, along with my delicious coffee and shot of mezcal. The entire time, I was one of only two parties in there. The restaurant is quite small, in one room that is very nicely decorated, with four quad tables and six seats at the bar counter. The meal I ordered was the Bandeja Paisa which for the most part was excellent although I question the need to bother including the arepa (corn cake); mine was barely the size of a quarter (seriously) and cooked to not much more than a crispy and tasteless wafer. The meats, and really everything else, were most flavorful and enjoyable. Do yourself a favor and ask for house made hot sauce; you won’t regret it- most excellent. Definitely recommended for the...
