I had a truly disappointing experience at the Americano Lounge today, and I feel compelled to share it. I arrived late at 9:59 AM for a 10 AM meeting with my business partner, who was already there. We hopped on a call for about 30 minutes, and during that time, the staff kept shoving menus in our face and repeatedly asking if we were ready to order. We were clearly on a business call, and while I intended to get coffee, I wasn’t able to do so immediately.
Despite this, after 30 minutes, a manager (who refused to give her name) approached us and started yelling and cursing at us, demanding we either buy something or leave. She went off about how hard it was for her to deal with “us men”, claiming she had bills to pay and the “lights had to stay on.” Keep in mind, we've been to this place before and spent hundreds of dollars, and I was planning on ordering coffee soon. But instead, I was harshly kicked out in the most unprofessional and rude way. She then proceeds to say we can never come back and that she “remembers the faces of all her enemies”. There was no consideration, no hospitality — just anger and hostility. It was truly wild.
I’ve worked in customer service for over five years and have a deep understanding of the pressures that businesses face. I’m fully aware of the need to generate revenue, but this level of aggression, rudeness, and complete disregard for customer experience was totally uncalled for. I’m a paying customer, and I was made to feel unwelcome for no reason other than not ordering immediately, despite my clear intentions to do so.
To make matters worse, I was shamed and belittled by the manager, who wouldn’t even provide her name or the name of the business owner. I didn’t know the culture of Americano Lounge was such a toxic and hateful environment. Disgusting… Instead, I took my business to Humphrey Street Coffee Company, where the staff was kind, welcoming, and understanding. They earned my business, and I’ll be recommending them to others moving forward.
Avoid this place if you’re looking for a pleasant experience — the Americano Lounge is clearly more interested in your money than in creating a positive,...
Read moreThis place is the definition of form over function. It is a nice little coffee bar, and the espresso is fairly good, but there are just some strange things that don't quite put it over the line from decent to good. This is a very instagram friendly place, and they really lean into that. Some of the coffees are served in extravagant, though not particularly practical uninsulated single walled glass containers. Uninsulated single wall glass + hot espresso = burning your hand with hot coffee. It is the strangest thing, I'm sure there are presentable insulated glass cups out there, why not use those so people can actually drink the beverage when it is hot? This may have just been something on the flight, looking at other pictures from the business it appears most coffee containers aren't single walled glass, but the point still stands. The coffee itself is fairly good, far from the worst I've had, but also not amazing. I ordered a coffee flight to give a few different styles a try, which came on a floor tile matching the flooring in the building. It was a very nice reference, but let me say it was terrifying to attempt to balance three glass coffee containers on a single tile without any holders for the cups in it, and I'm saying that as a one-time waiter. The macchiato was the best of the three if anyone is curious. The espresso was fine, no strong notes in it at all, and there wasn't any crema, but I'm thinking that this is because it was a true single shot. Most likely the machine pours a double and then they dump half, but I can't say for sure. The food also is just decent. I would give it a miss, really. It is worth going to for the interesting environment, but the actual food and coffee is very "meh". I haven't tried the cocktails but if I go by again I'll be...
Read moreI wanted to try a new coffee shop every day while on vacation, but I couldn't help myself; had to come back here on day two!
I'm a huge coffee nerd, and this place has ridiculously good espresso. Good food too! The atmosphere was lovely, there was adequate seating, very comfy chairs and couches. Clean bathrooms, good staff, I loved it here. Good to study, work, or get together with friends; super versatile space that suits just about anybody's intentions.
Back to the espresso. So so smooth with a lovely slight "bite" towards the middle & end of the sip. If you like espresso that has a lot of body but isn't too bitter or too bright, you'll find that here. Leans on the nutty side flavor profile wise. Quality stuff!
According to an employee, they privately source their beans, which is always a great sign.
My partner got a hot chai latte and it was so rich and delicious; just sweet enough!
The breakfast sandwiches are simple yet delicious, and the pastries are top notch for a coffee shop.
I never got her name but the barista with pink hair was so so so super sweet, she really knows how to make a quality beverage and how to connect with patrons.
If I come back to Nashville I will make it a point...
