I guess this is my favorite spot right now in Nashville... but that doesn't mean it's amazing. Nashville just... is lame. However, I do respect the vibes here. It's fun and people actually DANCE. To music that is actually... GOOD. Well, decent+. This spot is stylish and reminds me of NYC. There's a dance floor, tables you can pay for, an upper deck for VIP posers, and an outdoor area which is very nice. There used to be a bar outside and inside but Idk if there's still one outside.
This place is a bunch of heteros, mostly. But, unlike other spots in Nashville, I'd say it's gay friendly. Although, you won't find a ton, there are some... Good mix of people. General atmosphere is fun. There's usually a huge line on the weekend. It sucks, honestly, but I think it's funny how they try to make it seem exclusive lol. It's cute. I've watched people bribe their way in with like $200. It pays to know the bouncers here, because they'll give you preference and you can skip the line and feel like you're somebody for 5 seconds.
My suggestion would be that they should bring people in via the side of the building like they used to and they need to be more fair with getting in. You aren't NYC, LA, or Paris honey and you never will be so stop with the line skipping preferences and general elitism. This place is okay but it's not THAT GREAT. Chill. Focus on playing music that is actually from this decade, improving your bar service, and making the space more fun. Why are people waiting 45 min outside to get in only for giant groups of 10 people cutting line because they know who tf cares? Just stop it. First come,...
Read moreTLDR: they have a made up dress code and only enforce it to single people out if they think someone isn’t attractive enough. Even when the dance floor is half empty on a Saturday night at 10:30pm.
Ugh, as a nashville local, this place used to be fun and has so much potential. The place is aesthetically pleasing and the drinks are fine, but that’s about all they’ve got going for them.
The DJs are always so so mid. And all of the comments about inconsistent dress code enforcement are true. The owner seems to think Flamingo is a near-capacity NYC night club instead of a half empty last resort option in nashville for late night dancing. If you want to manifest that vibe for your bar, letting in a group of 10 wearing sandals in 85 degree weather but then singling out the brother of the groom for wearing what everyone else is wearing and making him stand outside alone just isn’t the way. I asked the owner if she would be willing to let in our friend due to the nature of the celebration we were having — Flamingo was not the first or only stop this evening so we didn’t dress to the nines. She doubled down over his sandals… even though I was wearing sandals too.
We immediately left and took our large group over to Bastion down the street which was a way better experience. I used to like this place but we will...
Read moreI really liked this place. The atmosphere was good. The one thing that was a bit frustrating is that it wasn't clear that they had charged me a 20% tip before presenting me with the bill. The lights were dim and hard to read the bill while I was there. They don't have a line for tax and I didn't know that. Being from Texas, I thought it bill, tax and total. But it was bill, 20% TIP and the total. So, when presented with the bill, I added a 20% tip. Because their was a space for tip just above my signature as expected. I was wondering why my bill was so high. It wasn't until later when I could read the receipt in the light that I figured out that I tipped 49%. $59.00 tab, $11.80 (mandatory 20% tip) and $15.00 tip that I added on to the balance due of $70.80. So, I unknowingly tipped them on the tip. Grand total $85.08 for $59.00 worth of drinks.
I'm a 20% tip person, so I really don't have a problem with the mandatory 20% original tip. But they could make it known as other places do by enlarging the font of the tip charge or just stating up front that 20% tip is mandatory and already included to your total.
I felt that was a little shady, like "Buyer Beware" and left me with a bad feeling about them. It's unlikely that I'll return as there are so, so many places in...
