We stopped by here to spectate the historical landscape about a week ago. Only the entrance has remains of the fort, while the rest of the land is still under renovation. The visitor centre provides plenty of information and their innovations on what they plan to do with reconstructing the fort itself. The staff there are kind and informative, with plenty of brochures and souvenirs there. The hallway is also lined up with museum-like items and sculptures. As it stands, the rest of the area is just a field with construction happening at the centre, so it would be about a 5 km walk (~45 minutes) to cover the whole area in a large circle pathway. The parking is also limited due to construction happening at the lot as well ...thankfully it wasn't busy when we visited in the early afternoon. So overall, there was very little to see or interact with here.

As of now, I do not advise visiting Fort Negley this month or the next few months, due to the construction projects happening. Possibly in the summer, or even next year the development should be...

Hidden gem in the heart of the city.

Drove by on a weekday and decided to turn the car around to check out why there was a fortress in the middle of the city. Was incredibly pleased to find out it was a beautiful park with a 360 degree view at the top. Seeing both the hills on the outskirts of town and the skyline while standing in one place is breathtaking.

I was able to read some amazing history of the fortโ€™s use in the civil war on the boards placed around the park that truly surprised me. You can enjoy the park in peace because unless you come on Saturday, very few people will be around. The experience is only hurt by the less than spectacular surrounding neighborhood and the small size of the park. Would still highly...

Really cool and historical civil war era fort. Unlike many other civil war sites in Nashville, this one has it's own modern visitors center, complete with a small theater, gift shop, and exhibits. The fort itself has a well maintained trail around and inside of it. There is plenty of historical signage and information along the way. The views of downtown and surrounding Nashville are the best you'll find anywhere, especially on the north side of the fort. Such a cool site, and as the largest inland fort built in the civil war I am especially glad it has been preserved and can be visited today. This is a great place to bring kids, or history buffs. Also is a must see on the Battle of Nashville...
