I've been dying to review what was one of our go to restaurants but it pains me to have to write a poor review instead. Last week we went to dinner before our show and thought an hour and fifteen would suffice. Nope. We waited 50 minutes for our food, so we ended up packing up the rest, accepted the issue and besides, our waiter was lovely. Our most recent visit also had issues. We brought friends, I ordered same as last time (British fish and chips-2). I received my order and saw only one piece of fish, asked if it was two pieces just stuck together. He looked at it and said, no and would bring one out for me. NO OTHER COMMENT then returned with another piece. Our bill came and we saw a $29 charge for the fish & chips. Menu reads $19 (same as last time on our bill). I told the waiter and it was explained that it's a two pick for $26 and British is an additional $4. I tell him that I didnt order two different items. The menu has three separate sections: starters, fish & chips then entrees. 2 pick is under entrees and in small print subcategorized. He gets manager, Michael who tells me same spiel. I debate that it's confusing and didn't have this issue last time. He becomes more insistent that I misread it and he can't change his pricing. What? I'm not asking him that. I'm pointing out the very confusing organization of their menu and I wasn't aware of the additional $10 charge--otherwise wouldve kept the single piece. And the waiter didn't say their was an additional cost. There's more back and forth ending with him saying if you think I can change your bill to match your pricing I can't. I thrust the bill at him and tell him that Im a regular, bring friends and you treat me like this? AND your lobster bisque has no lobster in it. He gives no apology. We left. OH and to double down on a previous review, the lobster bisque had no lobster in it. Bottom line: be sure to read all fine print, ask questions and focus on each separate sections description--all that is expected when going out to...

We celebrated our friend’s birthday at Boston Commons in East Nashville. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt lively yet comfortable.
The concept here is interesting: Boston Commons, formerly Batter’d & Fried, re-branded in 2019 to focus on refined New England-style seafood and pub fare with a Nashville twist. Their tagline “Where Boston Meets Nashville” fits the vibe—classic seafood dishes served in a warm, unpretentious setting.
For our celebration, we sampled a handful of their signature dishes: the bacon-wrapped scallops, shrimp & grits, lobster bisque, wedge salad, and Boston cream pie. Each dish was good and the Boston cream pie stood out among the dishes we tried. The cocktails were lively too, adding just the right amount of festive energy to our table.
Pros 👍 • Signature dishes shine: lobster roll, bacon-wrapped scallops, fish & chips sampler. • Celebratory atmosphere ideal for birthdays or group dinners—staff greeted us warmly and helped set the tone. • Concept blends New England seafood tradition with Nashville warmth and hospitality. • Indoor and outdoor seating with lively energy but comfortable enough for conversations.
Cons 👎 • Can get busy, especially for celebrations—reservations recommended. • Noise level rises during peak evening hours—might be a bit loud if you prefer quiet. • Some of the fried seafood draws a pub-style crowd (so level of formality is casual).
Pro Tips: • Don’t skip the lobster roll or bacon-wrapped scallops—they’re standout dishes. • Opt for the fish & chips sampler if you and your group want to try a variety of seafood styles. • If you prefer a slightly quieter experience, ask for a table on the patio or away from the main bar. • Arrive early or reserve ahead for big groups to ensure seating and a smooth experience.
For a birthday night out where seafood classics meet Nashville charm, Boston Commons hits the mark—celebratory, full of flavor, and truly a place where great friends and good food...
Read moreVisited the newly renovated Boston Commons (formerly Battered & Fried)…love how the place looks with the large outdoor seating area. Chatted with the greeter (did not get his name) about the changes and he seated me at the bar where Dana greeted me and got me a menu. The new menu is so much better, refined, and matches the theme of the restaurant. Started with a Sam Adams Lager and ordered the Lobster Bites appetizer and went with the Signature Fish & Chips selecting 2x Cod Loins. Now deep frying lobster can be a challenge and turn the meat rubbery…not the case here. These were delicious and I loved the breading along with the spicy aioli dipping sauce (although it really isn’t spicy). I could have done a single cod loin, these things were huge! The breading along with the panko really compliments the fish but also makes the dish stand out from your standard “fish & chips” offerings. The cod was moist and flaky, the fries very good, and the slaw was delicious. I did “accidently” dipped a piece of fish in what was left of the aioli, and I asked Dana for another container of the aioli. The combination of the aioli with the battered fish really was a solid flavor mix and although the tarter sauce was good the aioli hands down really went well with the fish.
Great food, service, and a new atmosphere with the renovations after the tornado damage. Great to see Boston Commons rise from the damage even better...
