The best bbq we’ve tasted anywhere in the world 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Now I know some might say don’t be silly, but coming from England where there is hardly any bbq restaurants and having never been to Snows in Lexington or Franklins in Austin, yes this is the best we’ve tasted.
We jumped into an Uber from broadway to get out of the hussle and bustle to arrive at a lovely area of Nashville. We were late arriving so the guy told us to sit in the bar area and order at the bar, others came in after and sat in the restaurant, I have no idea why and to be honest I don’t care!
The lady at the bar was extremely helpful (sorry I didn’t catch your name) helped me pick the right beer from the wide selection, we then went on to order the food, I had the brisket and my wife had the burnt ends.
We have eaten at some outstanding restaurants around the world, all across the USA, Australia, Singapore, all of Europe and in the UK and I can honestly say I don’t think I ever enjoyed a dinner as much as I did last night, it’s not all about pretentious and posh crap, yes that’s nice, but it’s about flavour!!!
The flavour and texture of that bbq last night was a taste sensation, amazing, the grits, the green beans and especially the corn (again shoutout to the bar lady for the recommendation) were lovely, but nothing come close to the meat, if I could box it up and ship it home, I would 🧐 there’s an idea 💡
We had already been to jacks which was great, but sorry jacks, not in the same league as Edleys bbq. Shoutout to the Uber driver who also sells his own sauces from honky tonk heat (again sorry no name, just remembered your instagram) for recommending edleys and more specifically this branch as I wanted brisket, he was right.
Will 100% return the next time in Nashville, who knows I might be back before I go home tomorrow!!!
Update from 20/05/25 Even with a power cut from the storm couldn’t stop Edleys knocking it out of the park, another excellent visit, we need an...
Read moreI make it a mission to visit BBQ joints/restaurants wherever I travel for several reason: First, to see if the craftsmanship of smoking BBQ is properly being shared with the masses; and second, to research if there is anything new in the BBQ world to be learned. Several people had recommended other BBQ places in Nashville but when I drove by Edley’s while enroute to another event, the restaurant seemed to beckon me to return - and I did, later that same day.
I’ll get right to the facts: I’m a pitmaster, I compete on the BBQ circuit, I judge, and I own 5 smokers, so I feel qualified to give this opinion. Edley’s brisket was on point! Hands down one of the top 3 briskets I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant setting (the other two being Joe’s in KC and Midwoods Smokehouse in Charlotte). The pulled pork was good but a tad dry, I added their Nashville Hot Pork to my order because it’s marinated 12 Hours in Habenero Mash and smoked 12 hours. Honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference between the regular pulled pork and the Nashville Hot Pork, with one exception - the Hot pork was more tender and moist. Kudos to Edley’s for only having only one sauce on the table, so many restaurants have too many sauces, making a dinner event feel like a sauce roulette. Their sauce is awesome by the way.
My son loved the BBQ Nachos topped with pulled pork, although the “nachos” are really homemade potato chips which are crispier than nachos and added a nice textured crunch to each bite - My son scored the nachos a 10 out of 10.
We shared the Grits casserole and collard greens as sides. The richness and flavor of the grits was perfect for pairing with the brisket. The greens weren’t as sweet as greens in other BBQ restaurants but I think I liked their savoriness.
Pro tip: Order a Brisket platter (comes with two sides), then add additional meats like pork or turkey in 3 oz increments. That’s plenty of food to sample whatever you like without...
Read moreThe process to get food and drinks is pretty terrible. First you have to wait in a long line to order, there are no waiters. We stand in line for like 30 minutes and get told that they've run out of the primary meat we were interested in ordering (the brisket). Then we had to go to the bar to order drinks separately. Not ideal when I'm trying to pay with a corporate card. Pretty good drinks. Only wine they had was from a box though. We went to go get more drinks 30 minutes before close and the bartender was gone. Some other employee who clearly didn't know around the bar helped us, so we had to order beers. Eventually the bartender came back and said he's closing, and acted like he was doing us a favor by making a couple of last cocktails. We didn't get any notice about last call.
This place would be much better if they had servers that you can order from, or maybe an iPad at the tables at least. It's set up like fast casual, but feels like a restaurant. Not sure if this is normal in Nashville.
Food was alright. Pretty mixed. The pulled pork was by far the standout. Amazing! Cornbread also delicious. The chicken was pretty good. The ribs were decent. Wings were forgettable as were the fried pickles. Mac and cheese was good and so was bread pudding. I recommend against getting whatever the green bean side is. Wish we could have tried the brisket.
Not sure I'd come back due to their poor process. But I'm still curious to see how...
