I called in last week for alarmed chips and salsa to go. When I picked it up it was few ente under $3. Today I called in chips & salsa, guacamole &chips and cheese sauce w/chips. When I got there I was given 3 option sizes for each. I took the medium option for the cheese sauce. The small option for the guac, and the XL option for chips &salsa. I received three small bags of chips-half the size of last week. Menu says Large Guac $5.99 Large Cheese sauce $5.99 and no price for chips and salsa. Assuming when you order the exact items inthe restaurant, you automatically get chips, I assumed the same for carry out. Nope. Tonight? Just short of TWENTY NINE dollars. There were people in line so I didn't make a scene. So I called. The manager I believe, Juan(?) supposedly rang me up but no one could find him nor could they find where I was rung up although I have them the exact time I checked out as I received a call at the same time. Mistake? Scam? Ripoff? However you call it, you sure can't call it fair or probably even legal. I have looked everywhere for a receipt to no avail. I'm pretty sure that was no accident. I believe he used the crowd to act like he was rushing to help the lone of people and pressure me to move along. Mistake? Scam?...
Read moreOverall, really good. Excellent, friendly and helpful service. The menu has the regular food you would expect from a Mexican restaurant but the flavor is superior and make me want to try other dishes now. A glass of wine is $4.95 and a large (34 oz) mug of DOS XX for $5.95. Not bad. Large selection of Margaritas all the way to top shelf. The salsa had oregano in it with just a hint of heat, chips were warm and fresh, both better than most. I had the Mushroom Quesadilla and my husband had the Fajita El Agavera. I couldn't believe the wonderful mushroom taste of my quesadilla (no button mushrooms here), delicious and the fajita was excellent, meat tender, great flavor. The Pico De Gallo was fresh with nice cilantro flavor. We didn't much care for the room temperature Mexican rice (because it was, well, room temperature) and the refried beans were on the bland side, lacking cumin or something. And lastly, the bathrooms were bright and clean though dated flooring (large cracks). We will...
Read more(edit - 05/05/2023) El Agavero is still the best Mexican food in Bellevue. This original review was from the first time we visited, which was Cinco de Mayo several years ago. Still good, still the best service and drink prices, always a good choice after a long day.
(Original Review) I had my doubts about this place for a while (I have a theory about restaurants in strip malls) but I am glad I was proven wrong. First and foremost they have Pacifico ON TAP, as in the big 32oz ones, along with several other Mexican beers. We have been here once before but tonight was exceptional since it was Cinco de Mayo and everyone in Bellevue was there.
The seemingly overwhelming crowd was no match for the waiting staff. They handled everything professionally - screaming, running kids, a birthday, and large tables. We had our drinks and meal in record time. Fajitas for two were amazing, cheese dip-good, and the salsa has a little kick to it. We have found our new favorite...
