UPDATE: After speaking with the General Manager, he was more than generous in his handling of the situation with our Thanksgiving turkey. He was gracious and genuinely interested in making things right.
We are looking forward to our next visit at Green Hills Grille, which is always a great experience. Good customer service goes a long way and they hit it out of the park.
(Rating is 2 Stars because we enjoyed the She Crab Soup)
Every year, I carefully plan and prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner for family and friends. This is a very special holiday for me. I use cherished family recipes and take great care in the preparations.
This year, with a toddler, we decided to use catered turkey rather than roasting one ourselves, so that the dinner schedule could be more predictable. We were excited to see that Green Hills Grille and Mere Bulles, two of our favorite restaurants were offering roast turkey. We have dined at both places many times and have loved every experience. We ordered our turkey there to be picked up on Wednesday morning.
When we got our turkey home, I was terribly disappointed to see that the “roast turkey” did not in any way resemble turkey that was carved for a Thanksgiving dinner. In fact, it did not taste or resemble turkey breast in the least. It had the look and texture of turkey that had been ground up and molded into a loaf shape. It had no color or skin or anything that would look appealing on a platter. I will attach a photo. I was in tears and decided to quickly run out and purchase some Honey Baked Ham to supplement our “turkey”.
We paid $75 for 5 pounds of turkey. The menu/website/email described it as “sliced roasted turkey”. I’m not arguing that this was indeed turkey and most likely roasted and surely was sliced, but a picture or more complete description should have been provided. We did serve the turkey and our guests were underwhelmed. Most of the ham was eaten, but quite a bit of turkey remained.
Honestly, I think at this price point, the turkey should have been of a higher quality. There is nothing we can do about it now, but in the future, we will not be ordering holiday items from GHG. I also hope that you are more descriptive in future...
Read moreThe chopped salad is very good. However, settings anymore don't even have a spoon in them. This is not just Green Hills Grille it's all restaurants and it's very disconcerting. There are some times during a dining experience that you need a spoon and you shouldn't have to wait for the waitress. So we ordered a nice drink and did not get straws and I had to go get two spoons and two straws from one of the other waiters. The waitress was very nice but we asked for a mixture of fruit tea and regular tea not all fruit tea. She gave us all fruit tea. As I recall we ask for no tomatoes and no garbanzo beans or artichokes in the salad, but all of that was in the salad. We changed our appetizer order from Tacos to a quesadilla, but we got tacos instead even after telling her we did not want the tacos yeah. It was very disappointing because we spent over $28 for a salad two drinks and two three little small tacos that we didn't want. We ate what we got we picked all the tomatoes garbanzo beans and artichokes out of the salad. Green Hills Grille and its current reincarnation is nowhere close to the Green Hills Grille as it used to be when it was on the little side street off of Hillsboro Circle. They did not have very many people in there for Saturday around 1:30 in a very very busy area of town. They will not be able to maintain that restaurant unless they train their wait staff and put a spoon in this place setting and listen carefully to what people order. They need to spend more attention on what they serve. It has fallen far from its...
Read moreThis place has a variety of great options on the menu and the food was delicious. We did not partake of the bar options but there were also several options. The reviews of this place are great and they have some gluten free pasta options, which is nice. We booked our reservation online and specified a booth request. We arrived promptly to find none available or becoming available and the hostess offered no apology and reiterated no availability so we settled for a table in a high traffic area. Our waiter was great but seemed to be working a huge area from front to back of the restaurant. He did a good job keeping our glasses full and checking on us. We ordered a variety of the great salads from the menu and added protein. My sister ordered the cob with a 4 oz filet, medium rare but it was rare and had to be sent back. The waiter put it on a small plate and picked up dishes from other tables before taking the filet back to the kitchen. This was awkward and seemed unsanitary but we continued. We also placed a to go order of the March special ribeye (medium rare) which came with a loaded baked potato. When we arrived at our hotel, the steak was again rare and the baked potato had nothing on it or nothing in the bag to add to it. It was disappointing and my son didn’t even take a bite. We heard so many great things and think this place has so much potential. We will likely give it another try in the future but today was not the best day...
