Normally we are at the Belle Meade location, but because we were in the area and coupled with the stores' reputations, we decided to stop in. The place was packed, but we were still engaged immediately by the front staff and seated - even though it was just the two of us and we knew that, if it was like the other properties, we could either get a hightop or sit at the bar. Looking around, it was very comforting to get seated at a table so quickly and it felt a little lucky. I love the roasted chicken and black beans and rice/she had the ribs and the pepper jack mac & cheese but always loves the reuben. Josh was prompt and has a nack for engagement. That's a skill in a server. He quickly got me to try the Chicken Articoke soup to prime for the Roasted Chicken. Dinner ended up being excellent - good enough to take a skillet brownie home. But aside from Josh and that the properties always look good, what stood out about the staff was how everyone was engaged. Front staff was on point to assist the wait staff - wait staff assisting each other... then I met the Sperry's "why".
Evelin is the G.M. and it shows in SPADES!!! She came over and immediately engaged us in conversation, taking used plates and assiting Josh where she could. The thing that impressed me about her wasn't necessarily how she had the location humming - which lets face it - has Nipper's Corner-location challenges in terms of competition that other places in Middle TN do not; nor was it just the positive attitude which I can't commend more - "enthusiastic" on a Friday night that may normally will wear others down. This stands out as leadership to her staff.
Nope - it was the knowledge. She understood the locale and her clientele, knew how to market, knew her history of the Sperry organization (I do a little homework also) and the history that conmtributes to a great organization. I commented on how - in a Metro-Nashville setting, the stores stand out as positive and with just the right amount of promotion while not getting too out of hand like others in the industry - that may contribute to customer loyalty.
I know it does for us - it sure does show in how Evelin and her staff performed on a busy Friday night in one of the more challenging and competitive economic enviroments in recent memory. We'll always keep coming back and bring our out-of-town families when we do....
ย ย ย Read moreAs a sports bar, just going for drinks...consider it; however the food and service were awful. A complete DEBACLE! The host that sets tables (yes he holds your napkins) literally scratched at his head and face non-stop, and kept shoving saltines in his mouth, it was disgusting to see. I asked for crispy wings and one side had some crisp but overall nasty. The pizza was raw in the middle; sent it back and then it comes back completely burnt and still a tad raw. The kids chicken tenders batter felt like days old and my kid wouldn't touch them. The server seemed to not know the menu at all and would contradict his responses so I was getting confused what is what. It was Happy Hour when I ordered a drink and he charged me full price because it took him 20 mins to deliver it making that 4mins past the end of happy hour. When we asked for the tables bill because we are splitting it, he put that persons bill on one and everyone else on another. When we asked him to correct it, he brings back the bills with each line item showing 1/2 two times. We (and the server) did ask for the manager to fix and give us just one bill for the whole table and we will give him 2 cards to pay...he comes back with a full table bill and every line item now broken out on 1/4's...I had no idea that was even possible. A picture is attached at the hilarity of this. I will never go back. If this place responds that the food was eaten, I had a person at the table who will eat anything regardless. And yes we paid and tipped the server (in case anyone wondered reading...
ย ย ย Read moreAbsolutely delicious food! Restaurant quality if not better, I can go to a restaurant and still have to drain my food, I seasoned nothing. Mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy and flavorful, I don't even like salsa but am in love with their salsa, the trout dip is my fave, so smoky and I live green onions ๐๐๐๐ the chorizo queso, the best I've had, broccoli steamed and seasoned to perfection, little bit of rice under it was tasty as well also the portion was the most generous I've ever had. Yall know what I'm talking about, other restaurants give the 2-6 stalks not Sam's you get a full plate of broccoli, a full bowl of Mac and cheese and a full plate of mashed potatoes, I definitely got my money's worth. I felt like I was in Texas where it's bigger lol potatoes were also perfect! I went back and had the Cajun pepperoni pizza and more trout dip the next day ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ think I'm addicted lol and when I tell you best pizza I've had, I even ate the crust (I don't eat crust), you could see the seasonings on the pizza and the sauce was sweet but not overtly so. And they gave me 2 cups of parmesan cheese and giant ramekin of ranch, not stingy at all ๐๐๐๐ service is friendly and happy and they leave you alone to let you enjoy your meal. Very accommodating...
