Listen let me tell you something if you like good old soul food that "somebody put their foot" in this is the place to be!!! Every item I have ever purchased from silver sands has always been flavorful tasty,WITH LOVEEE & not bogged down with a bunch of Grease and just that old fashioned cooking that your mom or your granny used to cook for you!! Today I went by I got spaghetti sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top fried chicken spinach tomatoes onions- lemon pound cake and some fried apples and let me tell you that aim to please !! I'm extremely happy every time I'm in the Nashville area I always stop by to get my fix!! The place is small but even though it is small THE FLAVORS make up for in the variety of food they have The smiling faces really makes you feel & home.. inside is you're surrounded by music from the good old days. The O'Jays,Temptations and more none of that newfangled music that really ain't got no soul, rhythm or a real purpose to it. They even sell Kool-Aid( yeah the kind from house party) your food comes packed in a nice styrofoam container they provide you with eating utensils that have salt pepper napkins everything you need. If you go right around the right time like I normally go in between 11:00 and 11:30 you get to watch the news and you get to sit down with I believe it's the owner's mother and watch Young and the restless❤️ seeing that today really reminds me of being a kid not wanting to watch it with my mom,but I know love it- the place gives you that reminisce feeling. If you don't go to silver sands Cafe and enjoy some food you're crazy,or just haven't found them. Trust me you will be happy.

The smothered pork chops are to die for. The gravy is heavenly. The spinach was the best I ever had. So delicious, even people who hate spinach will get converted by a side of this. Everybody tourist should come here once. Avoid the sweet potatoes if you're marginally diabetic though (way way too much sugar). Biggest shortcoming is the time spent in line. I got there at 11:10, they didn't start serving the first customer till 11:50, and there were over 25 people ahead of me, so all total was over 80 minutes in line before reaching the cashier. Love the food here, but will never go back, since I can reach the cashier in less than 15 minutes with 25 people ahead of me at a cafeteria in The Gulch where they serve the same Southern side dishes and don't wait 40 minutes to serve the first customer. Helps to have two cashiers at lunch, even with one food line.

This was my first time here. The soul food choices were of a good variety. We went pig style and got pigs feet and hog maws, turnip greens, white beans, sweet potatoes, and hot water cornbread. I must say with the exception of the sweet potatoes, the food was EXCELLENT! It reminded me of my grandmother's cooking in the country. We ate in the car because the smell was too tempting to wait. We were extremely satisfied. The only thing was the sweet potatoes was too runny. The flavor was good and on point but it was like an uncooked pie consistency. We definitely will be back. We are planning at least 1-2 times a month. Only because the prices are a bit much for one meat & 2 veggies at $13-14. I also advise to get there right at opening to avoid waiting in line. This is a MUST stop if you want traditional real soul food.

The Good...if you are looking for some real home cooked food that will have you in a food coma this spot is it. However there are definitely AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY that needs work. As a frequent customer I experienced the restaurant temporarily locking its doors to allow the staff to switch from breakfast to lunch. We arrived at 10:58am. A sign stated "doors will open at 11:15am". Patrons patiently waited. 11:25am and doors are still locked. No staff to come out and tell us anything. 11:35am still no open doors. By this time, people are leaving because they only have either an hour or 30 minutes for lunch or they went elsewhere. Finally, the doors open at 11:47am. One gentleman said thank you all for waiting. By then it was only a handful of us. This was an opportunity to offer a complimentary meal, drink, and/ or dessert for those patrons that waited. It shows that you care about customer loyalty and sorry for the inconvenience. Suggestions: No matter if this was caused by a staffing shortage or just poor planning or whatever the excuse was at the time maybe it's better to close the doors from 1030 to 11:30 AM (whatever time you choose)update your website and any signage on the hours. That way your staff can swap out the food or take a break. Until you are able to work out the logistics of transitioning breakfast...

The food is tasty. The cashier is very sweet. BUT, they are slow as hell. It dont make no sense. I walk in and line going to the door. Staff moving like molasses, no sense of urgency. I know our ppl in general dont invest in making a business run smoother bc we try to keep all the money in-house- but we have to do better. I went on a Friday and yes it was lunchtime -but a 30-40min wait JUST to order, then another 15 min or so to get food is unacceptable. There were like 10 ppl behind the glass, there is no reason it should take that long to make a plate. I tried to call the order in - NO answer. Tried to order on Doordash - business closed ability to make order online- Please do better and make your business more consumer friendly and accessible. Then my order was wrong-I added a fried chicken leg- I got and was charged for 2 wings - but after waiting it felt like hours I just took and went back to work. Also, the porkchops are way too small and thin. The cook is also using way too much pepper and salt.

We are in different times now and ppl are no longer willing to support just because. Ppl's time and money is precious and there are a lot of options out here. I want to continue to be a patron of this business- but not to waste an hour of my time on a simple TOGO order!
