Market City BBQ — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

Was in town for a concert and decided to come here based on the 4.9 stars which was the highest we found in the area. It is located in a food court inside the farmers market which is nice because there is plenty to walk around and look at but the food was very disappointing. Came on a Sunday at lunch time so perhaps it was an off day? The brisket was chopped and was in a warmer soaked in braising liquid much like a pot roast, which it had the same flavor profile and tough texture of a slow cooker pot roast. The pulled pork was ok, definitely could have used more seasoning. Honestly could not tell the meats had been smoked. The Mac n cheese was good, green beans were ok. Came here expecting some of the best bbq in Nashville based on the reviews and was extremely let down. Have had better bbq from fast food bbq places up North. The attendant serving us was hilarious and had good suggestions, but we personally didn't love the food- it was ok. The pulled pork needed salt & lots of sauce because it was dry. They do have sauces but not thick, only runny sauces. The green beans were strangely spicy (is that a Southern thing?) But the mashed potatoes were quite buttery (yum). The portions were smaller than expected. My favorite part of our meal honestly was the red onion and pickle slices (sweet spicy and crunchy) served on the side, and the potatoes. My husband didn't like the mac n cheese much or the sausage-i liked the sausage. Good spot, nice guy, but needs bigger portions & more overall moisture & flavor. Try it out! Maybe we just went on...

I was visiting Nashville from California and decided that i had to try BBQ here and chose this place based on the 5 star reviews. I ordered the brisket and pulled chicken with mac and cheese on the side. The brisket was blown out chewy and on the dry side, same with the chicken. Both had good flavor though. Prices were great (you get what you pay for) The staff is very very friendly and professional.
