What can you say when it’s just about “the only game in town” for live music
Friday night ... town is dead at 9pm and we walked along river at 8pm sunset towards what passes for downtown
Start of tourist season and 1/2 of restaurants closed before 9pm
Seems southern women like to get married here so certain of the restaurants are”private events only”
And most of the cafe/restaurant reviews are locals and 1-2 years old reviews

Full of good ole boys acting like they won reconstruction battle of the 1870s-80s ... loud, fat & crass tobacco chewing baling bros ... the black people are submissive and quiet ... sound like the good old south? Yep, you betcha
Don’t bother going out to eat unless you are a local yokel
BTW = Smoots had nice people in crowd as did other cafes/bars ... but the overwhelming number of people are loud rednecks
Only game in town seems to be Magnolia Bluff Casino ... yawn ... again full of loud red neck bros filling the air with tobacco smoke while modest black folks seem to try to fade...
Read moreWe visited Friday evening (May 18,2018) and had a BLAST. The crowd was entertaining and fun while the band was awesome. Pool was fun and most played very well. The only downside is the drinks are kind of expensive (but a very good selection) and the beer was high for such a small venue in an "out of the way" location. Parking was great and the inside of the joint is the work of a fine craftsman which used old wood from long demolished buildings to create something woodcrafters would understand. Read moreThey are finally open after renovations done over the winter. The place is still cozy and a great venue for live acts. The ladies room now has actual stalls and they are planning to add a beer garden and little shop. Smoot's is growing up.
