This is a really cool little Mexican sit-down restaurant in the corner of a strip mall on Sweetwater. It’s tucked in the corner behind the Super Sergio’s. It’s called “La Original Casa del Taco,” or “Casa del Taco” for short. They offer a wide range of dishes, from tamales to enchiladas to menudo.

I ordered three TJ-style tacos: carne asada, adobada, and birria. They also served complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was really good—super fresh and flavorful, and well-balanced so it wasn’t overly tomato-y (a failing of next door Super Sergio’s).

All the tacos were great, though I think I liked the carne asada and birria the most. The birria was super tender and fell apart in my mouth. The extra hot salsa they served me was pretty good, too, but I actually liked the mild’s flavor a bit more.

The woman waiting on me was super nice too! She was friendly and thoughtful. Overall it was a great experience. Oh, they also...

6.95 for a soggy sloppy tostada. Only gave it two stars because the burrito my boyfriend ate said it was decent. Have no idea how they are rated so high. Bought the largest container worth of guac and it was clearly only 2/3 full even though it is deemed by oz. I just wanted a good bean tostada. Not to mention the online order was not "received" but eventually was found in the system so he had to waited 30 min for 5 items. It was a morning order right at opening time but how does it take so long for the first customer. If you open at 10. Be...

Our server was pretty nice and the food came out pretty quick. Feels very traditional inside, homestyle. The food has a very standard flavor to it, nothing really stands out as far as seasoning or condiments, etc. For the price you pay it's a good meal, generous serving. If you have an appetite a combo plate might not cut it. The mole was underwhelming. Chiles were more spicy than tasty. Food wise is okay, servers were nice and atmosphere was pleasant so 4...

Sorry, but this place was less than mediocre. The chicken in the burrito was dry. The asada torta was just a bit bland and the meat was very chewy. For the lunch hour, we waited almost 20 minutes for our food, when there was almost no one else there. The horchata was just white sugar water. Big disappointment considering this is San Diego County. The staff was friendly. There was outdoor seating.
