I took my Partner here for Mother's Day and sadly it was quite disappointing. First, I would like to say, the atmosphere was cozy, the staff seemed nice, and the place really does have some potential. We ordered a large latte, a latte flight, a turkey BLT wrap w/side salad, and a toasted bagel w/ cream cheese. While the place was a little busy (it was around 12:15), it didn't seem unmanageable. From the time we placed our order at 12:18, it took until 12:42 until we finally received everything. We took our items to the outdoor seating, and after sampling, it was not worth the price or the wait. The turkey BLT wrap with side salad was $11 and the wrap itself was nothing special and the turkey was two slices of basic deli meat. The most flavorful part of that dish was the Chipotle ranch dressing for the side salad, which I ultimately ended up using on the wrap. As for the lattes, each item on the flight had an initial taste of the flavor shot that was used, but was quickly followed by an excessively bitter taste. My large pistachio latte had very little flavor beyond the bitterness as well. On the ride home, we still had a lingering taste in out mouths that we were eager to get rid of. As for the staff, they were definitely friendly enough, but they seemed to be inadequately trained. While waiting, we had plenty of time to observe the food prep and we weren't completely please with what we saw. First, proper hair restraints were not worn by those doing food prep. Second, an employee grabbed a bottle of what appeared to be an unlabled bottle of ranch and didn't know what was in it, so they squirted some on the back of their hand and tasted it, then continued assembling the dish without changing their gloves. Third, they seemed to be unfamiliar with the toaster oven and its operation. We tried picking out if there was a manager behind the counter overseeing operations, but it didn't look like anyone was ensuring quality control of how things were being prepped or items being served. The building and atmosphere are beautiful and I really wanted to love this place, but beyond ice skating in the winter and possible summer events being held there, there is very little else that would presently bring me back to Globe Coffee when just down the street is...
Read moreWe absolutely love The Plaza for ice skating, s'mores and a hot beverage.
We hosted a birthday party for 13 girls. The private room was wonderful & worked perfectly for our event. Majority of the staff there is friendly & helpful.
However, execution of an event is absolutely TERRIBLE. There is so much potential to be a great entertainment space! We booked a 3 hour room rental for $375. We spent over $300+ on food/beverages during that time. As others have stated, food was awful.
Large batch hot cocoa for $25 was watery & not great (we ordered 2). At 4 p.m. I asked if food could please be served at 5:30 (pizzas, gourmet mac & cheese, fruit tray, veggie tray). It started to come out at 5:45 and took 45 minutes for everything to be put on the table. Pizzas were served cold, Mac & Cheese ($6/half a mug) was clumpy and cold at the bottom. The staff walked by with supplies for to build the veggie tray at 6 p.m. (it was supposed to be at 5:30). Simple tasks that could have been prepped early. I was charged for an item I did not order. I had to ask a couple times for a simple pitcher of water & cups. There are so many additional disappointments, but you get a macro level picture here. It's a bummer because I would have loved to utilize this space for other private events. This was my "trial" on how they handle events.
Yes, I did let the event coordinator know prior to leaving this review- but heard nothing. The coordinator prior to the event was very responsive & pleasant! Also, important to note- by 5 p.m. on a Saturday evening they were not busy (surprisingly), the staff had ample time to prepare and it appeared fully staffed. I interacted with 4-5 staff in the coffee/food service area during our 3 hours.
I would recommend skating here, its a lot of fun...I would not recommend hosting a party. They are not trained to...
Read moreI have never written a negative review but this is crazy! Me and my 5 year old son were so excited to try out their food and ice skating, but ended up waiting for 25 mins for our food and watched everyone who was in line behind us get their food first. I mentioned something to the staff and waited 10 more minutes for the food. I had to ask them to bag it up as well, because I originally wanted to take the food outside, but they brought it out on plates. By the time they bagged my order it had been 40 mins and we had to skip ice skating and leave. I got home, looked in the bag, realized it was the wrong food completely! Hungry and frustrated, I went back to show them that my order was wrong and a manager wrote down my name and number and said that she can't refund me but can give me a credit.
I returned later because they had promised me a voucher for the $25 of food and drinks I bought. THEY DID NOT HAVE A VOUCHER FOR ME! I explained what had happened during my first visit, but this was a different manager and the other manager I had first spoke to was scheduled off, and I was told there was nothing they can do for me. So I spent money there and got nothing but frustration! I was told I would receive a call about the situation. I have heard nothing! This has been the worst experience I have ever had at any place! The management was unsympathetic and rude about this whole situation. So disappointing!
In Addition: I was offered no Oops card. A manager took my name and phone number and left me a voicemail, because I missed her call. She said there would be a credit waiting for me and...
