Ahhh, mi amor, there are many people that seem to love , or go ....(meh) or hate this place out right...
I don't understand how you could hate it ...but hey there is food racism rampant everywhere in this country. Cafe Rio is what I've been told as a Southwest style food or a type of Brazilian/Mexican type place.... but I believe that just might be a stereotypical judgement of the food...
Sometimes it just makes me want to kneel down, with a sad and contrite heart especially when you're ready to say the blessing over the food.
But of course like anything there are stereotypes of food that sometimes leave a bad taste in people's mouth so that way when they're exposed to other food that is similar - they just automatically assume that all the types of that food will leave a bad taste in their mouth even if it's prepared differently ...meaning that food came from a different background, or a different country, or a different upbringing, maybe that food was even raised on a different section of town.
But just because that food came from a hard area with hard ground where it had to learn to grow and survive such a harsh environment does not mean that it is just like all that other horrible food that left a bad taste in your mouth that one time. You should give food a chance all kinds of food for that matter. Actually your survival as a human ....kind of depends on being not so harsh in your judgement of it.
The best Cafe Rio I like is on Eastern and 215 they seem to have the best customer service every time I go in on the people there truly enjoy working there. Every time I have been there to the Eastern store they always have a good attitude, a smile, and many of them if you are a regular and it only takes about two or three times they start recognizing you and start a little chatty conversation that makes the time go by faster if you happen to be waiting in the line the Food line goes by really fast if you go during a busy time. Busy times during the week are around 6 to 8 p.m. and 5 till about 8 on the weekends or a Friday and of course lunch time hours can be busy but the line moves very very fast.
I have eaten at different types of this style of eating you can get a burrito , enchilada, tostada, tacos, taco salad, chips with queso, and of course nachos.
They make it right there in front of you like other stores do kind of a Subway Style of whatever you want on your whatever you get to eat they will customize any item for you of course you're going to pay a little extra for some items mainly the meat if you want a double order.
If you order a taco salad it is definitely enough for two people same with nachos and oh I forgot about quesadillas Deadpool would frequent this place a lot if he lived here just for the quesadillas. And Deadpool would protect all the people at Cafe Rio cuz he would love them like I do.
So give Cafe Rio a chance just because you've had bad experiences at other similar style cuisine restaurants or even other Cafe Rios ...you should try the one on Eastern it has melted my heart, not in a heartburn any sort of way, I don't get heartburn anymore because I drink lots of water probably close to a gallon a day. everyday...
I hope this review has maybe helped you to open your heart and can you can be a little less of a food racist... the world needs people like you if you have kept reading this review this long and then you also need to have children and teach them the same the world needs them to more of them so go get busy, and we can change the world of food racism where we can all live in harmony and eat...
Read moreCame in and there was no line but had to wait because there was nobody up front except one person making tortillas. This was at three pm. Everyone was in the back celebrating a birthday. Finally someone came up but they were just screaming, covered in salsa, and making circles around the kitchen. At this point a decent number of people were in line behind us. A supervisor or manager can up to the line to inform us that there was a birthday and apologized for the delay then left. He didn’t ask if we needed assistance and didn’t offer to help prep the food only reason I assumed he was management. Finally someone started taking orders. Then mixed up our orders with the remaining people in line because they were so backlogged and the line people kept leaving the line to head to the back for the birthday event.
Everything was dirty. No one was at the front of house cleaning anything. The only redeeming factor was that the food was actually decent, but for the price that is charged I’d actually really appreciate not to be served by a group teenagers covered in salsa that just got done flailing around the kitchen then eat at a table covered in lettuce. And keep in mind I am in no way exaggerating the fact that there were literally teenagers flailing about in the kitchen while covered in salsa. I’m fairly certain one of them actually burned themselves while doing so. Then they all just went back to chilling again with no regard for the front.
From a corner taco stand I wouldn’t mind the service, but a place that charges ten plus dollars for a quesadilla it’s a...
Read moreThe night crew at this location is incompetent. I haven't been to this location in years and had a quick reminder of why.
Ordering a veggie quesadilla was like pulling teeth, and in the end, I still did not get a veggie quesadilla.
Every time I order here at night, the night crew can't seem to get it right. It truly is incredible to me.
I told the girl making my quesadilla I wanted a veggie quesadilla. She asked if I wanted cheese, I said yes with veggies. As she was making it she asked if I wanted anything else, I said yes rice & beans, she said it comes with lettuce and salsa. I said I want rice & beans and she says it doesn't come with it. After getting her to realize that I want rice & beans instead of lettuce, my quesadilla comes out of the oven. Now my order is handed to the girl with the salsas, and she asks me what salsas I want, and I tell her. I asked her if it was a veggie quesadilla, and she said "yes." Then I go to pay. The guy at the register rings it up as a cheese quesadilla. I ask him to confirm that this is a veggie quesidalla, he says, "Yes, it's a veggie quesidilla." I get home, and it's a...
