This place is still as good as when it first opened. I would consider it one of the best taquerias in the Silverado Ranch/Henderson area. Considering the increase in cost for many places, they maintain a reasonable price, when compared to similar spots. Each tacos is about $3. My favorite tacos are the lengua and al pastor. They have other items in the menu though, including street corn! What I love is that their pastor meat is made the traditional way. It was delicious and one of my favorite places for al pastor tacos. I also like that they have a small salsa bar with some really yummy crunchy sliced radishes. My new favorite way to eat radishes with my tacos! The lengua was flavorful and tender, just perfect for me. I will say, I tried the carne asada taco, and I was not impressed. I’ve definitely had better in other places. It did have some flavor, but it needed more. I also felt like the guacamole they put on top, brought down the temperature of the taco, which made seem like you were eating the meat cold. It could’ve also just been the temperature of the meat, but all the other meats I tried were perfect.
I should note that when they first opened, you were able to go up to the taquero and order, which I loved. It felt more like the traditional way of going to a taqueria. I'm not sure if it changed after COVID or for some other reason, but now you have to order at the counter and they give you a number. Someone then brings the food to your table. This system isn't too bad, but I feel like it takes away from the original and intended experience here. Either way, it's not an enough to bring my review down by a star. The restaurant is still delicious, clean, and spacious. They have two floors for dining in.
One thing that I like about this place, is that the food comes out fairly fast. It's hard to find "brick-and-mortar" restaurants like these, that have real taqueros that put in some work to get the orders out quickly.
Overall, a great place to have some good tacos and a drink. I saw they had beers on tap, and I think they have tequila and other hard liquors.
If you're looking for some good street tacos and authentic al pastor on the spit, or de trompo as we call it in Spanish, this is a good...
Read moreWords cannot express how thankful I am for Tacos El Gordo being closed so that I had the opportunity to try this place out.
Now for anyone that’s looking to go to a Mexican restaurant with arguably the best tacos in town, then look no further. Taco y taco has a plethora of options to choose from including vampiros! Just like tacos el gordo, you’ll line up at the designated section depending on what kind of taco/entree you want. They do speak mostly Spanish but no worries for my English speakers out there, they’re all bilingual. :)
VAMPIROS — $4 each Wow, this was my first time ever having them and it was such a hit. For only $4, you’ll get a toasted tortilla with melted cheese and whatever meat you want in it. Think of it as a crunchy taco sandwich loaded with meat and flavor.
Asada vampiro was alright. If you’re a newbie and you want to try something different without going for a bold flavor, this is a good one to start with.
Al pastor vampiro was TO DIE FOR. While it is definitely much greasier than the tacos, it is such an amazing experience and well worth the money. There was so much pork that it kept slipping out of the shell.
TACOS — $2.25 each You will get two tortillas per taco which is very useful because I like my tacos super wet.
Al pastor tacos — bomb as per usual. Definitely get this one!
Lengua tacos — definitely the best kind of taco you’ll order here. The lengua is incredibly thick and meaty oozing with flavor.
CONDIMENTS — FREE! What sets this place apart from Tacos El Gordo is their massive array of condiments. Where at their competitor’s, you’ll find limes and radishes, here you will find those two along with avocado sauce, grilled onions, jalapeños, peppers, and so much more. Best part?? You can even get beans for free! All of the condiments are self serve and nobody will judge you for loading up your tacos with all of the above.
— Overall, this was definitely an amazing experience and even after just writing this review I am dying to come back here. Cannot wait to hit up Sin City again so I can get a bite of those...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place, as I like tacos a lot and had heard good things.
However:
I had much better tacos at Don Carnitas taco truck that were really fresh and where there was good customer service. might need to keep looking for a taco place, because this place has many negatives. they might not think customer service matters that much, as they are popular and can treat customers like burdens and think they get away with it, but you don't really want to go patronize a business and have the feeling that the people you interacted with didn't really want you to be there, it's...
