If you're here scoping out reviews trying to figure out if Saint Honore is going to be "worth it" (like I was an hour ago) the summary answer is no. It's not.
We got the creme brulee, lychee rose, ube coconut, and cannoli "couture" doughnuts. They were absolutely beautiful and Instagram-able. They looked far better than they tasted, but it can't be denied that the look is on-point.
As others have noted, the sugar shell on the creme brulee is thick and crunchy -- for me this was actually a huge upside; I was mostly worried the sugar shell would melt on the doughnut, and it doesn't. Unfortunately it's also not actually candied enough to taste like caramelized sugar. It doesn't taste like anything, and that's the theme of the doughnut. The custard inside was flavorless and somewhat curdled (such a rookie mistake at this price point). The dough was also just flavorless other than an unpleasant overly yeasted taste. The final straw was the bottom completely collapsing out of the doughnut when bitten. Soak bread in milk and you'll have an accurate idea of the texture. Bad.
The lychee rose filling had GREAT flavor. The topping was too thick and waxy and the dough was too stiff for the delicate cream. A textural mess, hard to eat, and really took away from the lovely filling.
The only thing that needs to be said about the cannoli doughnut is that a regular cannoli from any neighborhood baker is better. If I got this doughnut from a grocery store I'd be pleasantly surprised by the novelty and execution. In this context all I could think was "this shouldn't be worse than a standard cannoli, but it is." Other reviews are also correct that the mini cannoli on top was unfilled in the middle, which is such a silly and mildly insulting shortfall.
The coconut ube came the closest to having a genuinely good texture, though it was still a bit overly dry and stiff. One of us really liked that one and would get it again. There's again a texture mismatch between the extremely soft cream rosettes on top and the hard doughnut.
Overall, these doughnuts are perfectly calibrated for the 'Gram and TikTok but they definitely aren't patisserie quality and they aren't worth your time in a city like Vegas where there are so many true gems.
I might have given this place three stars (still far below the hype) if it were merely pricy and not exorbitant ...but maybe not. The creme brulee really...
Read moreOne star for the creativity, I was there at 11 am an hour after opening of which I had a preordered package ready to go. After looking at the doughnuts I could tell something wasn't right. They didn't look fresh whatsoever. After opening it in half they tasted incredibly stale. There is no way on planet earth that those doughnuts has been baked that day. They were very clearly sitting out overnight or longer. Perhaps they are having trouble selling out and don't want to throw away unpurchased product, but never have I seen a doughnut shop resell day old doughnuts. These aren't your dollar store, daily donut store either. These are artisan doughnuts that are quite expensive, similar to if you went to a french pastry shop. That being said, the quality of ingredients and doughnuts were like going to chuckee cheese. Far too expensive, and no care at all as to whether or not they're freshly made. There was no depth in flavor, they were overfilled and far too sweet. I took one look at the pizza and picked up a slice just to try it and it was worse than frozen pizza. It was clearly also not made that same day, and tasted like barely cooked dough. Absolutely disgusting. They've clearly gotten lucky off of good social media viral marketing, but this was such a big waste of our last day in Vegas. Would have been better off going to a buffet. Any daily donut store on your block would be better than this. This was probably the worst doughnut I've ever had. And if they were really trying I wouldn't be trashing them like this. But clearly they have no respect for their customers because they're willing to sell old doughnuts for exorbitant prices to customers. It was an hour after opening and they were stale! They should close their shops and just stick to social media. Clearly that's where all their focus is anyway.
UPDATE: They posted below to reach out, which I did just out of curiousity. This is clearly just to protect some sort of online image as they did not respond at all when I emailed them. Again, I don't really care, this is a viral place and I felt duped completely so I thought I'd save you all your time and money. But this is...
Read moreI visited Saint Honoré doughnuts and Beignets (the Flamingo location) on a Friday morning and was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of their offerings. The doughnuts were soft, fluffy, and generously glazed with different flavors, such as chocolate ganache, vanilla bean, and Nutella. I especially enjoyed the chocolate-filled ones, which were decadent and satisfying. We ordered some to go and some to eat there.
The place had a cute decor, with a beautiful royal blue color, wall greenery with neon signs, and cool posters. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They also had a nice selection of drinks, such as coffee, tea, smoothies, and milkshakes. I tried the Chocolate Nutella shake and it was dreamy. We also ordered some pizza because we wanted something savory, and it was really good.
The only thing that I would suggest as an improvement is the overall demeanor of the staff. First off we got there at 9:30 and the front door was opened, however were told they don’t open till 10am. We went back to the car and observed 4 other customers walk in be told to leave because they were not open. I would suggest not having the front doors unlocked until it’s time to open for business. Also the staff (although friendly) seemed stressed out and rushed, which made me feel a bit unwelcome, we could tell they had been filling to-go orders before opening because there were a lot of boxes lined up on the counter with receipts attached to them. I felt they were seriously short staffed and would suggest the owners spend a bit more in payroll to help the opening crew. I understand that they were busy, and they appeared to be lovely people, perhaps more help in the form of extra payroll and manpower would help as they also got busy really quick right after opening.
Overall, I had a good experience at Saint Honoré, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves sweet treats. The food was delicious, the decor was adorable, and the prices were reasonable. I hope to visit again soon and try more of...
