First off, this restaurant has a strict dress code that they enforce. When I first arrived I saw a couple looking at the menu displayed outside the restaurant, and I thought to myself, "Boy, I am happy my husband and I scheduled a reservation!" HOWEVER, after spending over $121 for our meal (prime rib with salad & baked potato and a steak with salad & baked potato) and only water as our drinks! I think they were the lucky ones when they walked away! The menu is extremely limited. The main entree comes with only soup or a house salad ( with NO cheese! Just croutons, 3 slices of cucumber and 1 cherry tomato-Can you believe that? ) I had the 8oz Beef filet steak and there was nothing to write home about it as it was very flavorless. And by that I mean it was one step up from a Denny's especially for $48.00 and the funny part is there was a Denny's right next door! Haha! I ordered my steak medium rare and it was closer to the rare side which was actually a blessing as it was extremely dry. My husband had the Queen Cut 16 oz Prime Rib, which he also said lacked in the flavor department; another disappointment as it cost $46 with just a soup or salad as well. We both paid $9 extra for a loaded baked potato..(his came with chives-mine did not as I am not a fan of them) now here again, I was extremely sad to see no cheese-just butter, sour cream, and a small amount of bacon bits. Now, should the dinner have been amazing it would have made up for the fact they even forgot to bring us the complimentary bread! After specifically asking - we finally received it ( The picture shows 2 pieces but it came with 4- I had forgot to take a picture first). The staff was kind enough, but not exceptional so even that didn't make up for the costly meal. Also, as we sat there astonished at everything, the price, the quality, and the lack of service the table next to us ended up sending their steak back because he wasn't cooked properly... But that didn't surprise me since I had already received mine. I would not recommend this place; but if you do want some great service and flavorful food, I would suggest the Saltgrass Steakhouse (where we spent $125 the night before (total) which included Prime rib + side for the Hubby, steak + side for me, salad for both (which also had freshly grated cheddar Cheese on top) 2 alcoholic beverages AND 2 rather large desserts that we took home! Happy eating! Also want to mention we went on a Wednesday...
Read moreAs a preface, I have never reviewed a restaurant and I am usually pretty tolerant with less than excellence. 4 of us went to dinner last night at Stockman's, we were early and there was no crowd. A young man brought water and bread to the table almost immediately (he was on top of it all evening). When the server, Jesus G, came over he did not ask if anyone wanted a cocktail he just asked if we were ready to order. We all ordered the special, 3 salmon and I ordered the steak medium rare. Jesus then started to leave and I asked if we were able to order a drink. Oh ok and he took a drink order for two of us. Our salads came, just fair but nothing to complain about. Then our dinners came, asparagus was wonderful, steak was medium well to well done and no steak knife. A bit later the cocktails arrived by the bartender, I was waiting for Jesus to return to ask for a steak knife and mention the steak was no where near what I ordered. Crickets..Crickets. Jesus never came back to check on us, I gave up on the steak knife because I didn't want to bring another person in on the issue and I had decided to take the steak home, cut it thin and add it to something the next day. While looking around the room, I noticed two other servers taking what appeared to be excellent care of the guests, ground pepper on salads (not offered to us), kept checking if things were ok (never happened to us). My wife and our friends said the salmon was good btw. I would like to think the overcooked steak was just an error and things do happen. When my bill was brought out by Jesus I mentioned the steak and there was barely an acknowledgement and certainly not an I'm sorry. The reason I am writing this is that IF I go back, and IF Jesus G is still employed, I will request that he is not our server and hope the overcooked steak was not the norm for not overly busy weeknight in what is supposed to be an medium-upper end restaurant.
PS, I tip 20% at all restaurants even if the service is mediocre but last night I left almost no tip and it was more than...
Read moreHorrible service from beginning to end. Walked up and told the wait would be 2 hours. Checked a few others places same wait so decided on this one. Asked if we could wait at the bar the hostess said there was a table for 4 and the other two could sit at another table. Bartender yelled across the room asking for your order. My husband had to get the drinks. We were seated within 5 minutes of sitting at the bar. Waitress was not super accomadating. When asked if I could have soup instead of salad she stated there were no substitutions. Fine but the menu states twice baked potato with dinner but instead you get mashed potatoes which I don't care for. When ordered items arrived the steaks and lobster ravoli were excellent. The chicken was inedible as was the prime rib. The waitress checked on us over half way through the entrées. I let her know that the chicken was super dry and not edible. She did ask to replace it but as we were over halfway through the meal I declined. She did bring over a comped drink. I've been in the service industry for many years and try not to complain for unwarranted items. I understand we all have bad nights but the rudeness emanating from what is supposed to be a higher class establishments completely took me by surprise. I guess I should mention that we were in laughlin for business. My husband is a contractor. We took the workers and their significant others for dinner. I guess that we just didn't look high class enough for this establishment to cater to. Little did they know that I normally tip around 40% as I realize what this job entails being a server myself for many years. If you look like a normal working class person stay away. I'd you're dressed up maybe you'll receive better service than we did. So sad as we thought it would be nice treat the boys to a nice dinner for a job well done. All that was accomplished was a bad experience with mediocre food. I truly hope stockmans staff reads this review and does better next time. Worst service I've had in a...
