I do not EVER leave reviews but this could not go without being said. For a fairly new restaurant, the food was outstanding. I had the Truffle Burger with fries and it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. The food was hot and fresh and came out within a reasonable time. My husband had the Scotty Stack with onion rings which he enjoyed and said the onion rings are the best he’s had.
As far as service goes, the bartender was terrible. He previously worked at Parlor where we had met him and he never had a good attitude. While we were sitting at the bar, he made cruel jokes about others he works with while talking with other customers sitting at the bar and spent most of our time being there checking his phone or distracted catching up with people he knew and ignoring those of us sitting there. At some point, he talked about how he was a manager and that baffled my husband. A manager who openly talks down about the employees he works with to customers of a restaurant is not someone who should be in a management role. I found it to be quite distasteful.
We were not a fan of him at Parlor and we are still not a fan of him at this Tavern.
Needless to say, we will be back in and hopefully with better service and someone else working...
Read moreThe place is great except for the young female manager. She manages with her emotions instead of her brain. Your job is to SERVE. As long as someone isn't being derogatory or inappropriate then you should keep your crude comments to yourself and make sure the drinks are full. Your pet peeves are YOUR problem and not your customers problem, you feeling comfortable enough to openly express your pet peeves at a full bar simply proves that you lack the talent to be a successful manager. Maybe a Dollar General or Goodwill would be a better fit for you, because you definitely do not have the temperament to make it behind a bar. Also telling your customers that they should open their own restaurant or food truck when they are simply talking about an item that isn't on the menu is extremely rude and...
Read moreNew Albany Tavern has taken over a great spot in downtown and has a lot going for it. The food is solid across the board; my burger (Black and Blue) came out juicy and flavorful, and the mac and cheese was especially delicious. They’ve kept the charm and old-school feeling of Pints and Union that used to be here, while adding their own twist with fun and unique drink specials. The “brown bag” is a standout idea and definitely worth trying (a random beer can and a shot. Never know what you’re gonna get!). Between the good food, creative drinks (both cocktails and specials), and the convenient location, this place makes for an enjoyable stop whether you’re out for dinner or just looking for a...
