Art House Cakery — Restaurant in New Braunfels

Let me preface this by saying that my experience was mixed. Some things were great and others not, so it’s hard to rate but I believe consistency is important when ordering something sight unseen. We ordered two cakes with Art House. I can say with certainty that both were absolutely delicious. There was no issue there. I will also say that customer service has been great along the way, and that our first cake, the gender reveal cake, was perfectly executed and exactly as ordered. They were also very understanding when we forgot to pick up the cake before they closed and they stayed open a little later for us to run and get it, which was very nice. Where things went south were unfortunately with the decoration of our wedding cake and mini “anniversary” cake. Despite me providing a clear photo and being told the cake would be done in the pastel colors pictured, what we got was a white cake with BRIGHT pink, purple, and blue. Completely not what was ordered and not within our color scheme. My first time seeing the cake was when they brought me over with my husband to cut it and unfortunately my heart sank with disappointment because I had really been excited about the one I ordered and this was just not it. It looked like left-over frosting from our gender reveal cake was used or something like that- the colors were like a little kid’s birthday party. I have absolutely no idea what was going through the baker’s mind when she did this and quite honestly that’s what baffles me the most and is most frustrating. I still don’t have answers about what went wrong. If this was a birthday party or some other event I would be able to let it go but this was the most important cake of my life and sadly I can’t get that moment back. And on top of that, the baker had the nerve to give us a completely plain white undecorated anniversary cake, even though we had agreed it would be decorated in the same colors as requested for the wedding cake. The owner was apologetic when I expressed my concerns and offered a full refund, which was appreciated. Unfortunately nothing can be done at this point to undo this missed opportunity. We still had a wonderful day but this will be one of the things I think of when I think of the faux...

What can I say!!!! Carolyn is an ARTIST who happens to make amazing cakes! I recently placed a special order for a Vegan Chocolate cake for a baby shower and it had to be the best tasting cake ever! Super moist and super chocolaty! It was also beautifully decorated. I showed her a copy of the invitation (the nursery theme is "Enchanted Forest") and you can see from the photos below how beautiful the cake looked on the table. (Wish I could have capture the flavor in a photo!)

The final test, though, is what the guests thought. Well - let me tell ya - they LOVED it!

She made Vegan Chocolate Walnut Rosemary cookies for my business’s ribbon cutting ceremony and they were the most unique, complex flavor & rich dark chocolate-y dream!!
