Marco Polo Cheesesteaks, Subs, and Paninis — Restaurant in New Braunfels

Hear me out... When rating restaurants, there are 3 criteria. Food, Service and Cleanliness (Google has it as Atmosphere) So if all 3 are as expected, or par for the course, I will rate the restaurant 4 Stars. If one of them is below, the other 2 need to be above to pick up the slack. That is my standard.

So I will do the negative first: The atmosphere/Cleanliness here is bad. Not just, not good, but bad. To name a few of the things that were out of place, there are a million things that you can buy in there, chachkies, that have nothing at all to do with the restaurant. I don't think I'm going to be in there buying a sandwich and realize my sudden need for a stuffed animal, a 10 ft long phone charging cable, and a Coors Light baseball cap. Also, there were taped up pieces of paper (signage) all over. You could clearly see the mop bucket and all of the cleaning supplies as well. The place was cluttered, didn't smell great, wasn't ventilated well and very unorganized.

The Service was good. The young lady smiled. She was polite, interacted with people well and had multiple things going on, she seemed to be the only one working at the time.

The Food was fantastic! I visited Philadelphia a few years ago and fell in love with authentic Philly Cheesesteaks... On my first bite of this hot Sandwich, I was immediately taken back! They nailed it! Gino and Ray in Philadelphia got nothing on Marco here! As bad as I roasted the atmosphere... The food is so good that I WILL EAT HERE AGAIN!!!

Hi there, just wanted to drop a review on the restaurant. Let me begin by saying first look past the fact that it’s a small restaurant because if you do you are in for a real treat. Now once you walk in you will be a little thrown back due to the many items around the restaurant as it give you a vibe of a relaxed and laid back restaurant but also give you that little boutique allure. The menu is vast from sandwiches, panini, Italian shave ice, and more. Now please keep in mind that the restaurant is small and with a number of people will fill the place first, however you will be greeted with service with a smile a fresh, hot and stuffed sandwich with your option of side items. The restaurant is very clean and orderly. When we went the food was hot off the grill and delicious with the garlic aioli sauce. I was stuffed after eating half of my Philly cheesesteak and my spouse ate all of his chicken cheesesteak. The food and atmosphere are sure to fill you up and please your pallet. When your looking for the restaurant look for the yellow building and please take you time the hill is a little steep but manageable. If you’re looking for a great place to eat with that mom and pop feel stop by Marco Polo Cheesesteak and give it a try. It’s what I would consider a hidden that’s out in the open but can be easily past up so take it slow and drive on in for same good eats, you will be glad you did. We look forward to going back....

I’m giving it two stars for the fantastic bread. Seriously, it was great bread. The meat tasted good but was overwhelmed by really bad veggies. We tried three different types of sandwiches and none of us could finish one. Not because we were full, but because they tasted bad. I’m not sure if the produce was going bad, was really old, or had been left out too long, but the peppers and onions were so bad we could only take a couple of bites each before throwing away the sandwiches. This is a big deal for us, we’ll usually eat anything, but it was overwhelming. The sweet tea also tasted spoiled and like it had been left out too long, it had a very strong, unpleasant aftertaste. Even the tigers blood added to one of them couldn't cover the taste.

We were super excited to try this place, we love cheesesteak, and it’s so highly rated. The service was great though, the stars are exclusively for the food. Hopefully it was just a bad day for them. We ordered for pick up to go and the food was done quickly and ready, otherwise we may...
