With all the other options for tacos in town, I’m pretty sure this was my last visit to Taco Cabana. About a week ago, I went through the drive-thru and ordered dinner for my family and me. When we got home, they had forgotten my order, but the other 3 orders were in the bag. The time before my order was wrong too, but I didn’t make a big deal about it because by then I was tired and just wanted to sleep. This time I was hungry, but also didn’t want to drive back, so just ate leftovers from home. We called and they said they would write my name down to replace the food. I went in today to get the food and was met with a very icy “okay”... she looked at me like a deer in the headlights... no sorry that happened, no let me make it up to you, just “okay”... and I’m pretty sure she was the Assistant Manager (possibly “Paula” on the receipt, but her name was covered by her apron) said she their policy was to replace when they missed, but they don’t do anything else. I said “you know, it’s really not customer service for you to give me my order... you are just given me what I paid for... a week ago. Again, she said “okay”, still no sorry, “that’s our policy”... she offered me a cup to get something to drink and I said “no thanks”, as I already had a cup of water that I had brought in and was drinking while waiting. When my order was ready, she handed it to me and said she threw in a bag of chips and a small container of queso. That is why this went from a one-star review to a two-star review! That is something, I guess, not that I was asked if I wanted queso, but again, no sorry. My favorite thing on the menu was barbacoa, and it is no longer on the menu, and a couple other things I normally ordered have changed, and the food is definitely not as good as it was before the menu changes. Something has definitely changed in this Taco Cabana in the last 3 years. The staff used to be friendly and fun and efficient... the dining room used to be clean, and people used to smile instead of stare. The last two times I was at the drive thru, it took over 20 minutes, and both times my order wasn’t right. This, coupled with substandard food, menu changes that are undesired, the lack of customer service and general lack for friendliness... I’ll pass. It’s sad when a place you really loved goes so far down hill. An apology would have gone a long way, but I’m not going back now anyway, so keep your apology, I’ll keep my money and take...
Read moreI don’t typically review places, but our experience was so unbelievably horrible that I feel compelled to share it. Think of it as a public service announcement: Beware the “Restaurant of Doom.”
First off, the cleanliness—or lack thereof. If you’re nostalgic for the days when sticky floors and grimy tables were the norm, this is your place. The ambiance was a delightful mix of a 1980s fast-food joint and a haunted house. I half expected a ghost to float by offering me a mop.
The culinary adventure continued with our order, which was apparently relayed to the kitchen via a game of “Telephone.” What started as a simple burger and fries somehow became a vegan salad with a side of existential dread. It’s like the staff was playing a game of “How Wrong Can We Get It?” Spoiler alert: they won.
But wait, there’s more! The customer service. Oh, the customer service. If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be completely invisible, just stop by. You’ll get the full experience. We were greeted with the enthusiasm of a teenager forced to work on a Saturday morning. Every interaction was as if we were imposing on their very existence. I started to feel bad for disturbing their busy schedule of doing absolutely nothing.
When we finally did manage to flag someone down, they treated us like we were asking for the world’s most complicated favor. “Excuse me, can we get some napkins?” Apparently, this was akin to asking for a handwritten manuscript of War and Peace.
In summary, if you enjoy filthy environments, incorrect orders, and being treated like an inconvenience, then by all means, visit this establishment. As for me, I will never return to this location again. I’m now in search of a restaurant that knows the difference between a burger and a salad, and where customer service doesn’t involve a scowl and an eye roll. Good luck out there, fellow diners! You’ve...
Read moreVisited on 07/06/25 at 6:20pm. Love Taco Cabana but this specific location is absolutely terrible. And I usually don’t speak badly on establishments, especially not to go to the lengths of leaving a bad review.. that’s how bad it was. Customer service was fine, but whoever you have cooking in the kitchen needs to be retrained. We got 6 tacos mostly bean and cheese and 1 shredded chicken taco. The beans tasted like they were burnt or scrapped from the bottom of the pan I don’t even understand why they would serve that. The shredded chicken taco was assembled very oddly. Lettuce and tomatoes at the bottom and a big slop of messy shredded chicken spilling out of the taco it was soggy and inedible. The bean and “cheese” tacos lacking all cheese , I’m guessing they put the cheese on the bottom of the tortilla since they also assembled the other taco backwards, and they slopped the burnt beans on top?? Very weird never seen that done before couldn’t even taste the cheese and was hardly visible upon inspection. And the salsas they gave us were mostly empty and that is not an exaggeration. Are you guys rationing salsa over there? Because all of our red and green salsas were 1/4 full.. less than half full. So crazy. Wasn’t even enough to cover all of the tacos. Which the bean ones badly needed some extra flavor. Tortillas were also dry as heck. Extremely disappointed, I wouldn’t give any stars if that was possible but I guess 1 star will have to do for this google review. My husband and I work hard for our money so when we do get to rarely eat out we hope it’ll be money well spent. Taco Cabana is amazing in San Antonio, I figured it would be great coming out of town but was extremely let down by this experience. Never EVER coming to this location again. A...
