I booked this hotel for an extended 3 week stay work trip and it turned into a nightmare!! after being here 6 days, Nancy the Housekeeping Manager began harassing me to the point that I felt racially profiled, and unsafe and checked out early. She entered the room every day for "housekeeping" even with the do not disturb sign on the door, and rummaged through my personal belongings. On day 5 I left the room for the day, put the do not disturb sign on and she went into the room anyway. I left a cigarette butt in a cup on the balcony, the front desk attendant Amber called me immediately and explained that smoking in the room was not allowed. I apologized, explained that I didnt smoke inside and I wasnt aware that it included the balcony, especially since there was no sign posted outside and several other people were also out smoking on the balconies. I took photos of other guests also smoking there. I never smoked in the room and there was no smoke smell. The only evidence was the cigarette butt in the cup outside that I honestly admitted to, and promptly threw away. Amber advised of the possible smoking charge, I didnt complain, the call was pleasant enough and we hung up. The next day I returned from smoking outside in my own vehicle, went up to the room and Nancy followed me down the hall and immediately banged on the door and accused me of smoking in the room again, which again i had not. She yelled and said she smelled smoke, and I told her that I had JUST come inside from smoking and she was smelling the smoke on my clothes. I offered to let her come inside to "inspect" but she refused and insisted that I was smoking. She lied and said she smelled smoke coming in the hallway, and continued yelling. I closed the door, went out on the balcony and saw a man smoking, then went down to speak withe the manager Randi and showed her the proof that SEVERAL people had been smoking on the balconies, at the exact time, but only I was being harassed. Randi lied and said that she would remove the smoking charge because of Nancys harrassment. I went up and began packing my things, and Nancy watched me bring down some of my bags, then she went into the room, took my personal bookbag and shoes and brought them outside to my car. I was furious!!! I WAS NOT CHECKED OUT YET AND SHE WENT INTO THE ROOM IMMEDIATELY AND WENT THROUGH MY THINGS. I came back in and tried to check out but the girl said the night manager had to do it at 2 am. I left and moved to another hotel and the next day the check out was still not completed and the harassment continued. Nancy or Randi or someone from Courtyard called my JOB and LIED and told them that I smoked cigarettes in the room and did drugs!?!? Luckily the call came to me, but the fact that they would stoop so low as to not only call my job, but to lie on top of it was insane. DO NOT STAY HERE!! HOUSEKEEPING WILL HARRASS YOU IF YOU ARE BLACK AND SMOKE CIGARETTES.
Update 9/18/2025 as of today the harrassment has continued...After seeing my tripadvisor review Courtyard Marriott has continued to contact my job as a form retaliation. I have been gone from that hotel since Sunday but the petty people at Courtyard have continued reaching out and sending emails in a poor attempt to have me reprimanded for sharing my personal experiences. Do NOT stay here..the petty management and staff will continue to harrass relentlessly even...
Read moreWhen the dam upstream breaks a week before your arrival and leaves the water level down and very little flow of the river, that knocks out one activity available for your stay and makes pool access even more important. Unfortunately this weekend found the Courtyard Marriott without a pool facility as well with their renovation in full swing. Couple that with a workout facility unusable due to water damage from rain the night before, an ac leaking water on our carpet, and a car alarm going off at 6:15 am right under the window where someone was parked in the drop off drive at hotel entrance, a fire alarm shutting down the elevators when it was time for us to go back up to our rooms to get dressed for lunch, it left us asking are there more things broken than working??? It was a perfect storm of boo boos. The timing of the boo boos, some within their control, others without, made for an unenjoyable stay at the Marriott. The ac having to be turned off at 1am left little comfort for sleep afterwards, exacerbated by car alarm going off at 6:15 waking us up with too little sleep. Forced to vacate the room for three hours while they fixed unit and extracted the water from the carpet, we went down to have breakfast but weren’t able to relax by the pool because it was closed for renovations. The workout facility was opened but no one wanted to workout due to little sleep the night before. When we were waiting for room to be ready, we were treated to ear splitting alarms for a fire alarm system that didn’t seem to have any staff concerned so we plugged our ears and waited for it to end. When it did, we only had a short time later before we were told the room was ready. When we tried to go back up to our room we found the elevators weren’t working because they had shut down with the fire alarm. That was understandable but it still left us climbing four flights of stairs to get to our room. After a that the rest of the day and stay was good but the morning of checkout, after getting a goodnight’s sleep, I went down to fitness facility for a quick run on the treadmill before continuing our travels. Unbelievably, the fitness room was closed with an out of order sign on it which was not there the morning before.??? The front desk lady said they closed it due to water damage from the rains the night before. To my count, 4 things not working makes for an unhappy,...
Read moreAs Titanium Elite members, we’ve enjoyed multiple stays at the Marriott New Braunfels Courtyard over the years, often bringing friends to experience its private dock and beach area, ideal for relaxing by the lake. However, our recent stay from June 24-26, 2025, was marred by management’s disregard for guest comfort, leading us to decide against returning.||Upon arriving at 3 PM, we were greeted by the disruptive noise of a gas-powered pressure washer at the pool area. Two workers were present—one operating the machine, the other idle. Hoping it would end soon, we waited until 5 PM when the noise stopped, allowing us to enjoy the evening. Unfortunately, the next day—our only full day at the hotel—the pressure washing resumed at 10 AM, just as we set up our rafts at the dock to enjoy the advertised tranquil amenities. The noise persisted past noon, with workers now power washing a rock wall between the pool and lake. I approached the front desk to inquire about the noise. The manager on duty (female, name not provided) was unaware of the work and promised to discuss it with the general manager, Danny. By 3:30 PM, with the pressure washing still ongoing, I spoke with Danny directly. He acknowledged the noise was disruptive, admitting he wouldn’t be pleased as a guest, but justified it as an “executive decision” due to low occupancy. Shockingly, he admitted that Marriott’s system prevents disclosing such disruptions to avoid discouraging bookings, a statement I recorded. ||When I suggested scheduling the work in shorter daily sessions to minimize guest inconvenience, Danny dismissed the idea, citing inconvenience to the pressure-washing company he chose to hire, located two hours away. He did note that upcoming pool maintenance in two weeks would be disclosed in advance, highlighting inconsistent communication.||The management’s prioritization of contractor convenience over guest experience was disappointing, especially for a hotel promoted for its outdoor amenities. While next-door construction of a Residence Inn added some noise, it paled in comparison to the relentless pressure washer. This experience, coupled with management’s blatant disregard for transparency and guest comfort, has irrevocably diminished the allure of this once-cherished...
