I had the Tavern Burger, she had The Grinder Sandwich. The burger was an instant classic in my book. Beef patty with a thin crust with a juicy middle cooked to perfection. Fries were on point and well seasoned. The Grinder had different cold cut meats on a marble rye bread. Very fresh. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming and homey. All of the details are there and very on point. Authentic antique furnishings, deep moody colors with pops of color. Loved the bookcases and art deco vibe. It fused really well within the historical building which flashed some of its rustic brick, concrete walls and industrial piping. A really great place to take a client, host a talk/ seminar. The quiet room felt dreamy and was furnished with couches, club chairs, and flowing curtains. This would be a great place to escape to do some work out of the office. I was surprised to find an almost secret door connecting to Comal River tattoo which was adjoined to the side. Really cool. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. The service was top notch and our food was served within 10min of being there. I will definitely be putting this on my list of go to establishments.

The atmosphere felt very upscale but was still in an affordable price range. All of the staff was knowledgeable and accommodating. We sat at the bar and I pestered our bartender, Jason, about the drinks he was making and he answered all of my questions. He was very knowledgeable and overall just awesome. I also noticed the lady bartender at the other end and she handled herself very well. Overall we were incredibly happy with our mini date night excursion and hope to return soon. My husband had a Stella Artois and I had the velvet ape which was excellently prepared and then a glass of wine that was in place of their Quilt. Jason did a great job substituting it out!

“Welcome in!” We were greeted as soon as our not-so-small party of 10 enters the tavern. Come to find out it was the owner that made us feel so welcome right from the start. The staff immediately backed her up and helped our party find seating, get us drinks, and take our orders. I highly recommend stopping in and staying awhile, you won’t regret it. They have lounging areas for ‘happy hour’, tables for dining, and a good ole fashioned bar with seating for those that wish. Michelle gave us a tasty little shot, easy enough for anyone to try, it’s called a “beer shot”, DELISH! Give it a try and enjoy!

We came here for drinks after going to Krause’s one evening on double date with friends (Friday evening first weekend of April). It’s wasn’t too crowded and there were a few kids running around. Our server was great, but once they started closing down-that’s when our experience changed. We got lost in conversation with our friends and didn’t realize we were the last left in the bar. A group of the employees and maybe their friends were at the end of the bar talking amongst themselves, then one girl yelled VERY ANNOYED “wish we could finish closing out since we’re closed!!” And turned and looked at us and started to laugh amongst themselves. It took us a second for it to click that they were shutting down. We would’ve been happy to leave but we were obviously enjoying ourselves there….until that. As soon as we started to get up ( we were sitting on the couch and 2 chairs that’s located right in the middle of the establishment as soon as you walk in).. the girl says “finally!”…It was just rude and plain disrespectful. Would definitely...

This is a great environment to hang out with friends, or a date night in the heart of New Braunfels! It is comfortable with different settings such as couches for chatting or tables to eat. Clean bathrooms and ambient lighting. The food was good, it was typical bar food. We had fried mushrooms to start, a couple of burgers a flat bread, sodas and beers. The biggest problem was the service! It was very slow. We had to ask for our drinks 3 times, then send the sodas back due to being flat; then we had to ask again for the new sodas. The beers also never came without reminding the server. It wasn't busy at this time! The flat bread was sub par. Mushrooms were good and burgers looked great. Maybe we came at a bad time. But as a local, not sure we would go back other than environment itself. But, we don't go out to eat for the environment. If the service was pumped up, I'd recommend at least...
