The Mess Around at Crosswalk — Restaurant in New Braunfels

I’m going to start off by saying,, That I love this place it’s so quaint!! There is so many Positive reviews.. But, I think that some of these waiters are picking and choosing who they want to serve and make their day! Because my experience was terrible I felt like chopped liver! First thing in the morning, you want your coffee,, And a waiter should know,,common sense is to greet your customers and offer them a cup of coffee. Even if he’s the only one on the floor. You will know how to distribute your time wisely, so that you can take care of your customers. This does not mean sit and chat with them,,when there is only two tables. 🙄 I have always enjoyed this place. I love the atmosphere. I think it’s a nice nice place.,, and yes, the food is very, very good. But,,if you are a waiter or a waitress and you don’t like your job, maybe it’s time to move on.. SO don’t mess around and get some new waiters and some new waitresses that will actually cater to everyone evenly!! Because at the end of the meal, you just want that 20% tip and it’s not gonna happen, if you can’t step up to the plate!! Good Lord! This was SUCH a hidden gem! My GOODNESS the food was amazing! We started with the deviled eggs which were the BOMB 💣.... not sure what the between sauce was, but it elevated these to a level I've never experienced with deviled eggs. The jalapeno cornbread was phenomenal! We had the Cajun meatloaf and fried chicken. Chicken cooked to perfection and so crispy! The mashed potatoes were crazy good, the black eyed peas were stellar! Y'all know you need to be in here on New Year's Day to get those black eyed peas! The collard greens look good but I don't eat those. Even with only two people working, the service was amazing and fast. Do. Not. Sleep. On. This. Place. First time here, and definitely not my last. Food here is so yummy. The Cuban sandwich served with potato salad is great, thick slice of ham and the shredded pork go so well with the pickled red onions and pickles, the brown mustard and kraut give it just the right lean into the German food that’s oh so popular in new braunfels. The grits I got just as a side and I got more than I bargained for. Everything about them was delicious, the texture was phenomenal and the Parmesan flavor was just the right touch. My server was also just on top of it today, it looked like she was the only server for the patio but she was hustling and bustling and I never had to wait on a thing. I’m so happy I took her recommendation for the Cuban, and I will definitely be back to try more.
