Just around the corner from the Rutgers School of Social Work is Kapadokija. You guessed it… a Turkish bakery!! The place looks dark from the outside with tinted windows, but don’t be fooled. The inside is a blast of color & vibrancy. The place is enchanting, with mosaic lanterns hanging from the ceiling, and tucked away in a nook with seating for 4, is a gorgeous full moon backdrop embellished with pink cherry blossoms. The place is obviously popular, with every table filled, and guests clearly enjoying each and every bite. Small chatter and occasional laughter filled the air all around me while I stood in line. The man taking my order was patient and kind as I asked questions about the food items and he even gave me a taste without my asking. I tried the potato roll and the cheese roll. I also got a few pieces of baklava! (How could I resist??) And I tried the Turkish coffee & Mocha! Everything was incredible. Very unique to my taste buds, which is what I was hoping for! Will definitely head back here to try more items with names I haven’t heard before. Lovely! Perfect...
Read moreThis wonderful new bakery opened recently and I couldn't be more excited. The owner personally greeted me and welcomed me into the store. He and the staff were extremely welcoming and helped me with my order quickly. The first time I went I got the chocolate mousse cake which was one of the best I've ever had. I also got a banana chocolate cake that was fresh, airy and had an amazing chocolate coating. I tried the spinach and cheese, cheese and meat boreks and they were great. The pastry was buttery, flaky and the filling was just the right amount.
I took my wife with me the second time and the we got chocolate covered cookies, some with pistachios on top, some filled with coconut. The owner suggested we also try a savory cheese sandwich on their fresh baked bread which was really good. I could have eaten the bread by itself but the fillings gave it a nice fresh and savory bite. I wanted a coffee so I got a cappuccino which was phenomenal.
I highly recommend coming to this bakery and giving them a try. Its well worth using your lunch break or going for breakfast...
Read moreTried this new Turkish bakery tonight and it was the perfect sweet treat after dinner!
I got the Turkish Tea and Pistachio Baklava. The tea was so delicious and smooth. The baklava was the perfect amount of sweetness and nuttiness.
They immediately asked if I was allergic to any nuts and I actually am. They were so kind and considerate to ensure me which treats I could eat and which I couldn't!
The employees were so kind to give us so many pastries to try out for free. The different pastries we tried were so unique and ones we have never tasted before!
The interior was so gorgeous and different. I have never seen a cafe have the moon carving built into the wall! It was beautiful.
I am always craving a great cup of Turkish tea and pistachio baklava and glad New Brunswick has such a great gem now! Can't wait to go back and try the Turkish Breakfast...
