My story with Khyber is a very special one to me, all because of a man named Aazam. It was a rainy night, and it was my fourth christmas with nowhere to live. I was shivering. Frost spreading its cold hands over my fingers. “Hey you, are you okay?” I heard a voice say behind me. I turned around and saw an employee with the name Aazam on his badge. He wrapped a blanket around me and took me in for the night. He fed me, gave me whatever I wanted, kept me healthy. Their food was the best I’ve ever had. I had finally recovered enough to go back home, so Aazam drove me. Upon arrival, my house was burning down. Aazam single handed me went in there and saved all thirteen of my siblings and my parents. Not only that, but he kissed every one of their heads and whispered in their ears, “Papa’s here, don’t worry” immediately comforting all of them. Once he left, all my sisters instantly were mesmerized. “Wow, he was really hot” said all of them. “Let’s go check out his cafe tomorrow.” But I knew I couldn’t let this happen. Aazam deserved better than my sisters. Aazam deserved the world. So, in order to stop them from going, I built my own Khyber over night to trick them into thinking that was the right one. That morning, I had everything planned out. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the fake Khyber, Aazam was there somehow. “I figured the people of this town deserve more,” he said, “so I’m working in both this and the other Khyber at the same time.” It blew my mind. Aazam was such an outer-worldly person he could work in 2 places at once. At that moment, all my sisters arrived. Instantly, they all started battling over who could talk to him first. Thankfully, Aazam knew what to do. “Ladies, ladies. Don’t fret. I can marry all of you” he said with his loving charm. All five of my sisters agreed without hesitation. What a man. Using the coffees in his shop, he brought a family back together and created five new ones. And he cured cancer. I’ll forever be in debt to Aazam and this blissful place. Thank you, Aazam. Keep making your coffees for others, but just don’t forget. There’s no...
Read moreAlas it was a dark and chilly night. I longed for warmth while I walked along the solemn sidewalk. All of a sudden I felt a pulling sensation and I was thrust into a cozy cafe. The lights warmed my heart and I looked up to see a man holding his hand out to pick me up. The first thing I saw was the Aazam on his nameplate. His welcoming smile and positive attitude made my world turn away from the cold darkness and into the blossoming light. He picked me up and kindly asked me what I would like. Unbeknownst to him I was not accustomed to the drinks on the diverse menu of Khyber. He recommended the Irish cream latte and made sure to explain to me the ins and outs of the menu at khyber. Without him or his welcoming attitude I fear I may be lost. I ordered the Irish cream latte and he personally brought it to me with that warm smile still on his face. Even with the blur of the crowd in this cafe he still made sure I was taken care of. He told me to enjoy and have a great day. Something I had not heard in years. Someone who believed in me and cared for me. Aazam was that someone. I drank my Irish cream latte and immediately felt wrapped in a radiant bliss. My heart and mind were warmed and that warmth created a peace by turbulent mind had not felt in years. The taste was absolutely sublime. I smiled. I hadn’t smiled in ages. This latte was the elixir that healed my soul. And there he was, Aazam, still with that smile on his face. I finished the latter and Aazam came to throw away my trash and asked if there was anything else I needed. He is the best person I have ever met and the kindest heart I’ve ever gotten the chance to meet. He walked me to the door and personally held it open for me. The darkness that he had saved me from outside seemed to disappear. The latte and Aazam’s kindness had changed my outlook on life and made me a better man. He waved me off as I walked away reminding me to come back. I will definitely be coming back...
Read moretl;dr Quite literally is one of the best combinations I have ever wanted but didn't know I needed: a chill place to hangout with friends and family, a setting conducive to being productive in studying or even just reading a book, and able to serve great chai and coffee AND actual meals.
I remember the very first time I dined here, I was with my family. We had ordered a pot of hot chai and to be quite honest, none of us really had a problem with it. We thought it was pretty good. Then one of the owners came by, asked us for our honest opinion, and then shared, "I tried the batch just now, and I don't think it's up to par for our standards, let me remake you a pot and you guys let me know what you think, on the house". He made us a fresh pot and even though the prior chai we had was good, this one was just amazing. By the way, this was only during their first or second week of being open. For a young business to have this kind of attention to detail and commitment to quality only speaks volumes of how much more committed and dedicated they will be to their customers as they continue to grow.
I'm now a regular at this location and I've met most of the baristas, and it's very obvious that they've had solid training. My drinks and food don't take too long, and I can easily enjoy spending time with friends or work on my laptop with their stellar wifi. In fact, even when it seems like a full house, their wifi continues to work well.
As for the food, they have different options like the pastirma, egg paratha, turkey croissant, samosa, and chicken and beef fluffy pastries. They also have delicious desserts, namely the tres leches rasmalai cake.
Overall, I enjoy their vibes! This place is definitely worth checking out, and it's quickly become one of New Brunswick's staples since you'll never walk into...
