Tequila Mockingbird, how could you not want to go to a restaurant with such a clever name? From the outside this restaurant looks deceivingly small, but once you enter you will find yourself in a spacious, colorful, beautifully decorated restaurant!
My friend and I shared the chicken flautas which were absolutely delicious and then ordered some tacos and she also ordered quesadillas. She enjoyed her quesadillas but we honestly were not crazy about the tacos. The shells broke the moment we picked the tacos up, the waitress was nice and brought us out a few new tortillas but not enough to replace all the broken tacos. I definitely think new tortillas should be used or perhaps serve the tacos with two layers or tortillas instead of one so that way they hold.
I ordered the steak taco which had a very nice flavor and the chicken taco which was very rubbery and I couldn't really bite into. I ended up packing up most of my food to take home and recooked them the next day.
The service there is ok. The hostess was a bit dry and more into her phone, the waitress was nice and checked in, someone who appeared to be the owner or manager did come and check to see how everything was so it's evident that, overall, this is an establishment that cares for their customers! There was another staff member there that was really sweet and helped us bag our stuff and he took a photo of us for memories!
While I cannot rave about all the food I had here I would definitely come here again, eat the flautas again which were amazing and try something new the next...
Read moreI used to LOVE Tequila Mockingbird... they’ve got the best ground beef tacos around for this Tex-mex loving gringa. BUT! Since they’ve changed management / owners, things just haven’t been the same. Prices have gone up and food quality/quantity has gone done. The margaritas are delish but now cost $12 each. For those who care to keep reading: I order the tacos americanos with soft shells and ask for the half order since 4 tacos is just too many. Before new change of hands, I got no push back, now every time they’re like ummm... and I have to say, well for literally YEARS this has been my order. Tonight was the third strike of messing things up... a different person brought out 4 tacos and when I told them it was wrong they said ‘oh we don’t do that’. The waiter apologized later saying the kitchen messed up, but proceeded to charge me for 4 tacos... I didn’t even eat more than the 2. My husband ordered the shrimp fajitas, and after having a bad experience before this with getting a dismal amount of steak, asked , “how many shrimp does this come with?” The waiter who I’ve never seen before (hope the regular guys that have been there forever are just on a day off) said “not sure how many, but lots of shrimp!” The shrimp Fajitas came out with just 5 shrimp. 5. They give you 4 tortillas for just 5 shrimp for $23?! Sorry... tequila mockingbird has gotten a 3rd strike in our book and I’m going to find it hard to go back with other better priced and just as good Mexican...
Read moreI’m never one to complain and I feel so bad but I got a steak fajita and my bf tried it and noticed it tasted funny. He went to smell it and they steak was bad had a sour/rotten taste to it.. I told waitress and she said cooks will make you something else which makes me feel steak was bad. Not to mention from time we ordered fajita came out within 5 min idk how you cook steak in 5 min then they replaced it with chicken which literally took all of one minute which idk how chicken can cook that fast. After all of that I was feeling so sick all night my stomach was not good. On top of that we had to pay for it which I don’t care but if someone complains about rotten or bad food that can cause them to get sick they should at least do something to make the customer happy, we had to mention something and she gave us a hard time.. Now since we left I been feeling so sick and my stomach hasn’t been good . It’s such a shame bc I heard amazing things about this place sad to say I will not...
