My review for "Pesca peruvian Bistro" on 8/15/2023
Trendy place, cool atmosphere. The food can be below to above average depending on what you get. The service is somewhere average, friendly servers but never came to our table to asked how everything was or offer desserts, nothing too bad but for the prices and the place I would expect a little more.
Lomo Saltado was made with soy free sauce and it was surprisingly very tasty! I thought it was a little too salty but my wife loved it. Meat and potatoes were high quality. This dish I will recommend for sure.
Ceviche was below average, very strange since they seem to be a place for it, the fish and shrimp did not really mingle well, also the lemon juice had not much flavor, it was just not as good as other places, that was very disappointing.
Seco de carne was below average, this dish was my least favorite, beans, carrots and meat were dry and hard, not a good dish. I would recommend the owner to remove it from the menu ASAP.
Lomo Saltado 10 Ceviche 4 Seco de carne 3 Service 6 Cancha 7 Green Sauce 7 (not spicy) White rice 7 Atmosphere 8 Chicha morada 4 (tasted like from the bottle, not fresh) Cleanness 8
Score for this one time is 6.3 out of 10. Not a bad place at all but very inconsistent. A lot of room for improvement. Peruvian cuisine can be espectacular if done properly. I hope this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDecided to take my parents out for their anniversary dinner here last night. Service is very good, waiter/waitress very attentive to our needs. Manager was also kind enough to guide my mother as to which foods to order since she does not consume dairy. Our appetizers were delicious, we ordered the Ceviche Pescera and the Fried Calamari. Both were excellent, Ceviche was extremely fresh and the calamari was very soft and not chewy. For the Main course, we ordered the Paella and Lomo Saltado. The Lomo was delicious, cooked to perfection and the meat was not tough. Paella was descent, nothing out of the world. For dessert, we ordered Churros. Unfortunately they were burnt on the outside and undercooked inside. Manager kindly took it off the bill. My father ordered coffee, tasted like Instant Coffee. My reason for the 4 star rating is because although the food & service was very good minus the dessert/coffee, for a Peruvian restaurant I find this place to be highly overpriced although it is located in New Canaan. And they also charged an āinflation feeā which took me by surprise. Overall, pleasant experience but I know other Peruvian restaurants that will do just as great and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām convinced most of the positive reviews here are fake.
Food: mediocre at best, prepared lazily. Worst ceviche Iāve ever had (salmon meat had gray spinal cuts in it; the salmon was cut into chunks of different sizes, and there was SO much of it. Brisket was again, random cuts of meat, some very dry and tough, and some tender. Steak was over cooked, dry, and tough. Everything was pretty bland and very salty. Not representative of good Peruvian food, which is a favorite of mine.
Service: the people were nice, but they were incredibly slow and indifferent. Nobody asked how the food was (I suspect they knew) and nobody asked if we wanted anything different.
Atmosphere: this place looks great and has fun interior: gives off young, beach, fun. Weird that they play jazz/classical covers of songs, it makes the place feel very unnecessarily formal. I think they could figure out an identity (fun, formal, casual), and edit the menu to match.
Pesca cuts too many corners, and you notice it. Bad restaurant, and bad representation of...
