Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in New Castle

We come here once a month and almost always have decent service and good food. Tonight we went and Haley was our waitress. She did not greet us first, so another server greeted us and got our order for her. It was 20 minutes before Haley even stopped by our table. By the time our burger & quesadilla came out, they were both soggy, cold, and had definitely been sitting in the window for 10 minutes +. A different server brought our food out to us while we watched Haley chatting for 10-15 minutes at the front. She wasn’t even 5 ft from our table but continued conversation with her coworker instead of checking if we were satisfied with our (then soggy) food. I never got my drink, and my significant other had an empty glass for 20 minutes.

We expressed our concerns with Haley when she finally came by the table and she immediately made excuses and shifted blame. I asked for the manager and he was understanding. He apologized and comped our meal which was appreciated considering we didn’t get to enjoy or eat what we ordered.

As someone who serves tables full-time, I try to be understanding with other servers when I go out to eat. I also understand how very easy and simple our jobs are when we have only 2 tables like our waitress did tonight. It takes 5 seconds to ensure a customer is happy. This Applebee's location has a great wait staff but leaves some things to be desired. We arrived during a slow time on a Monday, before the lunch today started. We were seated right away in a specific booth, which was important to us. The waitress was attentive, patient, and helpful. She provide a booster seat right away for a friend of ours. She provided our drinks quickly as well.

The food and drink is where they really let down their customers. I ordered a long island, a favorite of mine which I order everywhere I go, and this one was terrible. The first one I had tasted like a flavored water with little alcohol. This seems weird knowing just how much alcohol should be in one. The second I ordered was very tart and had way too much sour mix in it. They were made by two different bartenders and we're both clearly made by guessing the recipe.

I ordered a chicken cavattappi with basil and tomato and three cheeses. The portion was way too small for the price and the chicken was dry, cut into fine slivers. Very strange. It seems this location does not train it's cooks or...

I placed an order for carry out. My boyfriend went to pick it up as I was just cleared to eat after being admitted for observation in labor and delivery. He asked if everything was in the bag and the lady says yes. He has to go back in for a breadstick and then when he drives all the way out here there is no extra Alfredo bowl (2 we bought and paid for 2). I call to speak to someone and the manager tells me there isn’t anything they can do we will have to come back to get it. Why on earth do I or anyone have to drive back to your restaurant to pick up what we already should’ve had in our bag and paid for?! We will not be returning to this establishment as the staff should bag the items in front of you so you know personally what’s in that bag and they should go above and beyond to make things right for their customers instead of giving you dry pasta to eat.
