Interesting little concept in New castle Pennsylvania. Adorable converted older gas station with beautiful color concepts. Ordered the “hot hen house” and a smoothie. let me tell ya, the first two bites were amazing! The sauce taste like Toum and honey sriracha combined together, delicious. Until I bit into that rotten tomato. Bringing into question how to food is stored (temperature, labeling, etc) The smoothie was a disappointment, tasty, but it taste like frozen smoothie mix from Restaurant depo. Since this establishment is owned and operated by a couple who own and operate Elhams, I truly expected better. The hermitage location is doing fantastic due to everyone upset about the “Simple Greek” closing. The menu is slightly more diverse than the new castle location, having ham as a meat option. However, the patrons are probably completely unaware of Marcus Lemonis, and the lawsuits that follow. It’s an okay stop, saddened this will be replacing Elhams in...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped into this place to try it. From the outside it looked unique, especially for New Castle.
The selection/variety of sandwiches is good. Most of them are priced under $7. You can upgrade your fries to sweet potato fries which are delicious. And those come with "sweet butter" which turns them into a desert.
The inside of the shop is small. The only seating area is a countertop facing the street at the window, but that is (I think) because the larger appeal of this place is the outside dining area where the tables have umbrellas.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I can be a picky eater and she had no problem adding and taking from my sandwich.
The food was really good. The meat was tasty and full of flavor and the pita was soft and warm. The only contention I would have with the actual meal was the lack of drink variety there was. But my can of Mountain Dew did OK.
Stacy and I had good experience there. We'll return to try...
Read moreI've eaten here twice. Both times I got takeout.
The first time I got a gyro. The portion size was pretty good for the price. The default sauce that comes with it was more like sour cream than tzatziki or garlic sauce. I got the sweet potato fries as my side. They have cinnamon sugar butter that goes with the fries. I was psyched about that but because the gyro and fries were still warm, the butter melted and leaked in the bag.
The second time I got the hot hen house sandwich with honey sriracha fries. The fries were pretty darn good and you get a big serving. The sandwich had good flavor but they used big chunks of chicken breast that were really dry. I would suggest using dark meat or cutting up the white meat into very small pieces.
Im going to give this place one more chance to wow me with their cheese steak pita. I'll update my opinion once I try it. After that, it's a wrap... It just may not be one...
