Debated whether worth posting but here I am… Server was initially very patient while kids decided what to order and gave a great suggestion (margherita flatbread) however service overall went horribly after ordering. Food runner accidentally dropped my 11yo’s order of steak tacos upside down in his lap and a dish shattered on concrete. He apologized but then froze and didn’t know what to do. I understand the embarrassment but even after I began to try and clean up the only thing he said was we’ll put another order in, can I get you anything else? I had to clean the table, ask him to come clean the ground, no offer made for wipes or anything to clean up clothing. Next, what appeared to be another runner or cook came out and apologized and said order would be just a few minutes. Then our server who didn’t even know about the incident came to check on us, I informed her and asked for additional napkins, and for empty plate to be removed. There was zero reaction or apology and she left. Assuming the next person was manager although he was the one who sat us earlier, came over and apologized with a smile on his face and said the meal would be taken off. I advised I was more concerned with getting my son cleaned up as it had fallen in his lap. He said he was unaware that it fell “on him” and would get wipes. Next new food order comes out along with the other table orders. Still no napkins or wipes. I bit into my pita wrap which had 2 toothpicks in each half holding together. I took them out and got stabbed in the mouth with a 3rd toothpick INSIDE the wrap under filling. When I advised our server she said “well ya, we have to put a toothpick in to hold it together.” I repeated myself explaining this was not holding it rather inside and again no apology, no napkins. Manager delivered check to me with a smug smile that he graciously removed my son’s meal from check and discounted other items. I mentioned to him about toothpick and he said he was told and gave the same response as server with no apology. With the exception of the gentleman who came out to tell us another order was being prepared, everyone treated us as if WE were somehow the problem. I didn’t make a scene, stayed calm to avoid embarrassing my kids and cleaned up their mess and they acted amused, smug, and annoyed. I tried to excuse the lack of professionalism with food runner and server as they were young but the manager is clearly the problem. Both in having properly trained staff and his own behavior.
It’s really a shame because the food was quite delicious and scenery nice...
Read moreThe perfect rating for this place was official within literally 30 seconds of walking up to the bar - the bartender took my ID, frowned at the picture/date of birth, and called me Old Babyface. It makes me sound adorable and tough all at once. And as an added bonus? The drink was fantastic.
My top tier chums and I came here for a drink this past Saturday in the late afternoon, probably around 4pm. They have an interesting setup here. The bar/restaurant is attached to the Bucks County Playhouse (which has hosted such luminaries as recently departed BFF Angela Lansbury), but the entrance - unless there was a much more obvious one that we overlooked - is in the back, and requires either an elevator ride up to the second floor where the bar is, or a walk up a longish deck staircase. What's very cool about this though is that once you get your drink, you're permitted to go back outside and just hang out in the chairs on the walkway overlooking the Delaware River. I'm not clear on where the jurisdictional line is where you're officially no longer under the purview of The Deck, but they're taking a leap of faith with their clientele (though I guess in the worst case scenario where a customer violates their trust, they're only out a glass). It was a little awkward to carry my full cocktail glass down the flight of stairs, but I thought it was a reasonable price to pay to hang out in the river chairs.
I decided to go with the Stolen Princess, featuring peach puree and one of my favorite cocktail chums elderflower liquor. Delicious. Not only is the bartender an exquisite judge of youth, but her mixology skills were right on point. Everything was perfectly blended, with no one ingredient overwhelming the senses. If it wasn't a day of debauchery with other stops in my future, I absolutely would have had another. The sugar rim was also scrumptious.
It's hard to say whether the cocktail or the environment was the biggest selling point, but as you can see from the attached, we also had the honor of viewing a pooch on a jet ski in the water, as well as many friendly people and canine chums on dry land nearby. A...
Read moreHave very fond memories of both working and visiting the playhouse I thought the addition of a restraunt was a perfect idea! I was shocked from the moment we walked in and the end of the lunch menu and were completely ignored by the 5 or 6 hosts/ waiters standing around the podium. Not one took the time to even acknowledge that someone walked through the door.... The menu choices were nothing to write home about, really....Wawa up the street offers more choices although the dinner menu has the addition of entrees to the lunch menu and that is about it. Only one soup was available for the soup of the day annd the burger special was turkey burger. The atmosphere reflects nothing what so ever except for so,e vintage photos on one wall and a very noisy bar with a loud football game playing on the t.v. You can get this same atmosphere in any bar that servers better food anywhere between the Delaware River and Northeast Philly. I will say it's nice, it's new, and maybe will catch up to the other eating establishments in town but it seems very little preplanning was at hand on creating something special being attached and connected to the historic playhouse. The worst crime being the staff! Two people that were seated after us had a server at their table quickly until finally one sauntered over from the podium to take our order which took forever to get. Well it took a long time to get drinks first, and when he left it took a long time to come back and actually take our order. We waited a very long time for our food to arrive which was a bowl of soup and a salad then a while to get the check. The server never came back to retrieve our check and payment and I was forced to walk it up to the podium. Mind you there was only 6/7 tables full of people at this point. So when you find a menu with worthwhile items and memorable food choices on it, train your staff to be polite and warm to your GUESTS and diligent in serving them, and then find a theme for your establishment maybe ther is hope. At this point I would not recommend The...
