Jake's Diner on State Street — Restaurant in New London

So sad I didn't take photos of our meal before devouring it! Came here for brunch and was not disappointed. Was able to make some changes to our order without any issues. I had the special: Jake's Kielbasa hash eggs benedict and it was made well. I am the type to add ketchup to any home fries but with that eggs benedict I had no reason to add it. My boyfriend had the Hungry Man and was able to make it into a breakfast sandwich. The food was all made from scratch and it was phenomenal!! Our waitress Nicole made us feel welcome and right at home. Jake the chef/owner definitely added love to his food and also had conversations with us like we knew each other for years. Doing business in New London decided to try Jakes Diner. Made the mistake of ordering a Philly Cheesesteak. They have no idea of how to make them and it seemed like they just used whatever they had around. The bun was Hamburger bun instead of Hoagie roll, meat was dried out ground beef instead of sliced beef, cheese was wrong, etc. etc. The biggest slap in the face was the $10 price tag for 80 cents worth of food. If you dont know how to make something or dont have the ingredients, take it off the menu. I only ate half and tossed the rest. I am sure the rest of their food may be good but do yourself a favor and dont order the Philly...

Terrible terrible terrible. I wish I could say I at least tried something here but we left early after getting our water because of how disorganized the service was. We were waiting for some time with no utensils and no napkins, people had dirty plates stacked up, and the staff was passive aggressive w each other when coordinating orders. One person took our drink order, for someone else to come by again and ask us for our drink order. We told them we already were being served and they said "ok well, give me your drink order now." Maybe not a good day for them, but definitely not...
