The place I went to is actually called Fatboy's and I REALLY wanted to adore this place, but as a gal that really loves a chef who puts passion in their food, I can't. The atmosphere is great here. The decor is on point. The food CAN be great with just a little more love.
What they do right: Their clam chowder is out of this world. While it's more of a Boston clam chowder and not a traditional new England clam chowder it was so creamy, tasty, satisfying and filling. I probably shouldn't have ordered anything else as I was well and truly stuffed after. The fried foods are well prepared and meals are served in a timely manner. The steak was cooked perfectly and served with fresh veggies. THEY HAVE GOOEY BUTTER CAKE! As a current St. Louis gal I was really happy to see this offered on the menu and served JUST right! (Don't miss this offering) As we dined I was happy to see folks going up and down the stairs to prepare for a large party for the following day. the staff was VERY attentive and accommodating while they set up their space.
What can use some improvement: I had chicken parmesan. While the butterflied fried chicken was amazing the pasta was tossed with canned spaghetti sauce. It's not difficult to make sauce fresh. Imho it would elevate the dish tremendously. The chicken was smothered in cheese. Too much for my taste, but hey- if that's your thing, cool.
Overall I would probably visit this restaurant again if out and hungry but I wouldn't go out of my way to...
Read moreMy experience their was from a few yrs ago and it hasn't changed. They have what they call a VIP seating area which is located at the two front windows of the place and I am a supporter of all businesses, however we were treated very unprofessional. We rented a VIP purchasing the bottle required for the VIP including appetizers for the guest invited. Our appetizers were over cooked and they couldn't do anything about it because kitchen was closed and nothing was done nor offered. At the end of the night the daughter of the owner whom worked their at the time handed a bill over charging, stating the bottle was more then quoted and insisted that, that was what her mom handed to her before leaving for the night. Not only did we have to pay but also where told to stop in on regular buisness hours to discuss the agreement originally agreed on with the mom. When we stopped in the mom basically denied the original agreement and didnt show any empathy for us as customers, since then I've not been their but stopped in on sat andI did not spend any money, to me nothing has changed. I have been in the sales buisness for 15 yrs and this type of treatment pushes customers like myself away. Too much greed leads to...

He liked the price for the proportion. It looked yummy to me.. I think thatz might be my next dish here. Lol 😅 It wasn't busy. Waiter waz nice somewhat timely. But he gave us a pitcher of water so he wasn't there alot. We weren't drinking so it waz peaceful & enjoyed the Food & the View of the Thames River. So when it came to leave the waiter waz busy helping with the food & restaurant delivery that came in. But we didn't mind to walk to the bar to cash out.
