I love sampling Chinese buffets and this one is pretty darn good. There is a nice selection and the food is usually hot and fresh Although once I went there about an hour from closing and the food was not but I understand why. I bring this up as a point because I have read other reviewers leaving perhaps unfair negative review of other buffet places when they should adhere to the golden buffet rule to never go to any buffet close to closing.
What I like about this is the grill and the sushi which they roll fresh. I would have several plates of the bbq pork and bbq chicken from the grill. It's so good. Another plus is that they offer dumplings and dim sum - not always found at other Chinese buffets.
The other stuff is pretty standard fair with a nice mix of of American and Asian cuisine and of good quality.
My preference for the boneless ribs is that they cook it more because I like it well done. It caramelizes the sauce onto the pork making it tastier in my opinion. As this is my personal preference and a minor point it should not deter you from making your own conclusions
The desert selection is ample with hard ice cream (I don't like the soft serve that other places offer) and a nice selection of cakes, fruits and jello.
The wait staff is quick to pick up your plates as you go back for more and soda refills are frequent. Pricing for lunch and dinner are reasonable - a little more than another Chinese buffet in Danbury but not out of line because they offer so much more.
I frequent this buffet on my diet cheat days which says a lot since I want the most for my food intake when I allow myself to eat. You should definitely consider Royal Buffet!

Read moreBeen eating there regularly when I can. Problem is my wife likes neither oriental food (I know there are other options but they become limited) nor buffets (she has real or perceived sanitary issues with buffets). I love it though so I have lunch whenever I can. My first trip or two to a buffet restaurant will consist of very small portions of as many dishes as possible. After that, I'll go back for seconds of the ones I like most, or mentally note them for next time. My first plate is usually some shrimp cocktail, a little seafood salad, cucumber and tomato salad. After that I'll have a little wonton broth with dimsum and/or dumplings. Then it's time for the sushi. I'll have a sampling (all good). If I can I'll have some of the other items in small amounts (baked fish, various chicken entrees, coconut shrimp, whatever else looks good). Then a little ice cream or sherbet to cleanse my palate. Lately, however, only make it through the sushi before I'm full, and I eat less of that. Just can't eat as much. Only one very small complaint. Before the pandemic the ice cream and sherbet was in tubs from which you scooped what you wanted. Now it is in tiny cups. The quality and flavor was much better...
Read moreI took my group of individuals with intellectual disabilities here on a lunch outing. I told the host that we needed a table close to the door as we have someone who can’t walk long distances and they are disabled. The host proceeds to insist we need to sit in the back of the restaurant and said the tables in front were reserved and the back is better. We asked 3 more times to try to be seated closer (there are several sections that are much closer than this that were not reserved) and the host did not listen to us. The waitress waiting our table never came to give refills or remove plates and I had to actually go search for someone to get more drinks. When the bill came we were shocked to see that it was $17.30 per person opposed to the $11.99 total we were quoted the day before when we had called. Forced gratuity was included as well as soda. Also, those tables that were reserved were never filled. False advertisement, poor customer service and non compliant to the ADA; take your...
