We were excited to try Filos Latin Fusion after seeing about it on Facebook. It’s a stylish little spot—cozy but not cramped. The decor is modern, colorful, and fun, and even though our table was on the smaller side, the space felt comfortable.
We started with some of their cocktails—my mom had a dirty martini, and I tried the passionfruit mojito. They were decent, not amazing, but fine.
To start, we shared the Mexicana a la Dominicana. The pork belly was crispy and delicious, but I didn’t like the plantain base. It was too thick and kind of bland. I think it would’ve been better on a tostone. That said, the portion was generous (especially the guac!), though my mom thought there could’ve been a bit more pork.
For mains, we tried the ribs with tostones and the roasted half chicken with rice and beans, plus an order of cassava fries to split. The chicken was a star—super flavorful, though a little dry. Some garlic sauce or even some mayochup to dip it would’ve taken it to the next level. The rice and beans were simple but perfect. The ribs, however, were just okay. They were smothered in BBQ sauce (which tasted good) but the meat itself was a little tough and lacked seasoning. We ended up using the sauce to dip the cassava fries and tostones.
Speaking of those cassava fries—WOW. Best I’ve ever had. Super crispy with amazing flavor. The tostones were fine, pretty standard.
For dessert, we tried the flan and the tres leches. The flan had a firmer texture than I’m used to (not my favorite), but my mom loved it. The tres leches, though was excellent.
All the portions were big—honestly a little too big for our tiny table—and everything was plated beautifully. The service was great too; our server was super attentive and kind. That definitely helped justify the prices a bit more.
While I didn’t love everything we had, I still think Filos is a great option for a special night out. The vibe is fun, the food is good, and the overall experience makes it worth a try even though it’s a little pricey. The place turns into a club with a DJ around 9 which sounds fun, our server said it gets lively.
Overall, I’d give Filos an 8/10. I’d definitely come back once in a while, especially to see what the late-night...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at Filos in New Milford was so bad that I feel like people should know. When we first arrived, we stood waiting for about six minutes with no acknowledgement, even though staff kept walking past us. The place wasn’t busy, yet tables all around were dirty and covered in plates. The only available table they gave us was sticky and shoved in a corner, with spiders nearby. It took nearly 20 minutes just to place our order, and the waitress who helped us had a clear attitude the entire time. She didn’t collect our menus, barely checked in, and honestly acted like she didn’t want to be there. The food service made no sense — one meal came out before the appetizer and drinks, and the rest of the food showed up after that, but still before the appetizer. The burger we ordered was raw, and fries didn’t arrive until after we were already done eating the burgers . We also had a to-go order that we placed at the same time as our meals, and it still took over an hour after we finished eating to receive it. On top of that, it was charged separately instead of being included on the same bill. The only positives were the nice atmosphere and one young server named Edward, who was genuinely sweet and helpful. Besides that, the experience was frustrating, disorganized, and showed a complete lack of customer service. I wouldn’t recommend...
Read moreI went in yesterday for a dinner date with my boyfriend for the first time.. We were both excited and looking forward to trying the place out. My boyfriend had called to make a reservation for the 2 of us as we expected might be busy for a Saturday night. We arrived at Filos, we enter the place. The place wasn't as busy as we expected, there was 2 waitresses none of them even acknowledged us at the door. We were standing there for about 5min, no greeting or acknowledgement at all .. There was a couple before us that were also waiing to be seated and it was obvious they have been waiting for a table for quite sometime. We also noticed that the tables that were empty were dirty still and have not been wiped out. Then finally after 5 min of standing at the entrance to be even greeted one of the waitresses tells the couple before us, my boyfriend and I and another couple after us, that the kitchen was not serving anymore food at the moment that the kitchen was backed up and we would have to wait for food for 1 hour!?? But how is that possible if the restaurant wasn't even busy??!!! It's really a shame was looking forward to their food, but honestly after that experience we will not be returning and I will not recommend...
