DOUBLE CHECK YOUR CHECK BEFORE PAYINGI really wanted to like The Abbey with all the glowing recommendations and reviews I’ve heard from close friends and online, however the experience my friends and I had when we went this past Saturday was one of the worst dinning experiences I’ve ever had anywhere. It took 2 hours for us to get a round of drinks for 4, one appetizer, and 4 entrees. Our waitress only came to the table 2 times the entire time to take our drink and food orders. Every other time we had to ask another waitress or waiter since ours would disappear for lengthy periods of time. However that’s not what prompted me to write a review. Once we had received our check, 45 minutes after we had finished eating, my friend noticed the price of the dish she had (crab and lobster ravioli) was significantly more than what was advertised on their menu. We asked a passing waitress for the specials menu and found that the price they were charging us was 8$ more than what the Abbey was advertising. We flagged down another employee who we suspect was the manager because she was not wearing the black staff shirts that the wait staff was wearing and informed her of this discrepancy. My friend pointed out to her the difference in price and she immediately became defensive. She informed us that the computer was the right price even though their menu advertised a cheaper price. She then informed us that there was a appetizer size and an entree size, but that was not communicated to us when we ordered and there was no indication of two sized portions on the menu itself. Usually when I’ve gone to a restaurant if there are two different sizes and one is cheaper than the other the two prices are reflected with a /, but no such symbolism was present on the menu. How were we supposed to know what size we were ordering and to know the true price if it’s not being advertised correctly. While the manager believed the computer price was correct the menu price is what customers make their decision on what to order. She was very dismissive to our concerns even though the simple solution was to replace the correct price with a pen in order to not to be deceptive to other customers. The cherry on top of this experience was my boyfriend seeing that The Abbey charged him 10$ more than what he signed for this morning on his credit card statement even though we left our waitress a 20% tip regardless of the poor service we received. Anyway if you’ve made it this far in my review, make your own judgement on whether or not The Abbey is the right restaurant for you. It...
Read moreMy wife and I have wanted to try here for many months now. Wish we didn’t waste time. It was fantastic. We went here for the Sunday brunch special. You get a starter, entrée, and dessert. You can also do bottomless alcohol choice of mimosa, screw driver, or Bloody Mary for a small additional fee. Lots of parking in the lot. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. They consistently checked in on us which was very nice considering how busy they were. Multiple TVs which had different football games when we were there. We didn’t sit at the bar area, but it looked fun. Lots of great decor and a great atmosphere inside.
As usual, we got to items and shared. I ordered a steak sandwich with fries. She got the brunch special which consisted of steak fritti, stuffed potatoes, and a piece of red velvet cake. The stuffed potatoes were good. Creamy on the top, bacon and cheese in the middle. The steak sandwich was amazing. I asked for it medium rare. They cooked it exactly how I wanted. It was so tender I couldn’t believe it. The fries were a great side. To complement my steak sandwich, I had some steak fritti. Cooked perfectly and definitely worth the money. The eggs went along nicely with it. The Red velvet cake was good, but not great. The frosting and cream delicious, but the cake was a little dry. Considering how the rest of the meal was, didn’t bother me. Looking forward to going back for Sunday brunch...
Read moreI have been a big fan of this restaurant after a number of visits. However, on two consecutive occasions, received a BACON cheeseburger that came without the bacon. Chalked this up to stress in the kitchen and among the waitstaff. Really liked the atmosphere and most of the food, although i had one appetizer here that was definitely subpar. Had some calimari that was barely cooked all the way through. Tonight I got an order from The Abbey through the Vroom service and it was defintaley not what i had ordered. Again, my burger that was ordered with Bacon, yet came with NO BACON!!
I would have shrugged this off if this situation had not happened on numerous occasions prior to this. I have to admit that most of the food that I’ve have gotten from here has been quite good. I’d say that the Southwest Eggrolls are excellent here. Although most of the food was good, the service was not the greatest and the food was typical for your average American pub food.
This review is just an attempt to say that you should make sure that this restaurant gives you what you order. Just spent $80 on a delivery order that was not even what was promised to be delivered. The worst part is that if i were in the restaurant, based on my past experiences, i wouldn’t have been sure that i would have received what i ordered either. Big waste of money, but if you happen to get the dish you ordered, you...
