This place is great! My girlfriend and I came here to redeem winnings from a raffle. We picked up a pound of rigatoni, a pint of vodka sauce, a bastone, and 2 canollis; we bought Ferris Acres ice cream. My girlfriend and I are planning to go to Villarina's again at some point to treat ourselves to more of their goods. I highly recommend this place to get dinner for a delightful evening at home with your significant other. You won't regret purchasing any of the food they have available! To start, the woman who helped us was very nice and helped us make great choices. The service was great! She informed us about the fresh sauces she had for the day, along with the greater variety of the frozen ones that were made by them. My girlfriend and I ended up with the vodka sauce from the freezer (good choice). She then told us about the fresh angel hair, spaghetti, fettuccine and rigatoni; my girlfriend and I were tied on the fettuccine and rigatoni. The woman suggested the rigatoni (good choice), breaking our tie. By this point she had already had ready our canollis and our bastone. We ended up in conversation about her various products, namely the goat boy soap, and as her and my girlfriend were talking I had peeked the gelato and ice cream. After some convincing for my girlfriend (surprisingly) we got some Ferris Acres ice cream. This choice was a little superfluous, considering our meal was very filling! As the woman suggested we thawed the sauce in hot water (in the container) and then heated/thawed in a sauce pan at 2-4. The aroma while it warmed made our stomachs grumble. We decided on dessert first, eating the cannollis. These were extremely good. The shell was crunchy and sweet, while the filling was very creamy and there was a good amount considering the shell size (a little tiny, but nothing to cry about); it was not too sweet, it was perfect. We heated the bastone in the oven for dipping in the sauce later on. We set the water and boiled the pasta. The fresh pasta cooks much quicker; 3 minutes was all that was needed. The instructions on the bag were spot on. All of it together was incredible. The pasta had a different flavor than regular pasta, it was noticable but not extremely so. How filling it was is the noticable part. I recommend having a lil less than you usually would (you won't want to though). The rigatoni held right onto the sauce. The vodka sauce was very flavorful. It was creamy, it had less of a tomato sauce flavor like other vodka sauces I've had. A lil parmesan is great with the sauce as well. Their house made sauce is a clear winner! The bread was crunchy and with the the vodka sauce a perfect pair. All in all, a great food...
Read moreFirst time in the store today. I took a pasta making class with Adam at The First Bite in Brookfield earlier in the week ( it was a great class, would highly recommend) and that brought me to the store. Incredible selection of Italian specialty foods, prepared foods and local specialty items. I have already eaten 2 of Adam's Incredible Cannoli, some fennel salami, fresh pasta and a little Ferris Acres ice cream. Veronica was a pleasure as she was helping me pick some specialty items. This will now be a regular...
Read moreWe stopped in spontaneously, on our way through town, and found a gem! Adam is mentioned in practically every single review, and he should be. He makes the store what it is. The selection is diverse, the quality is high, and the ownership is committed and attentive. If we had a shop like this where we live, we'd be very regular customers. Starred on the map, we will stop by anytime...
